The terminal is very handy in terms of access to the city. The waterfront area is newly renovated. Another plus for passengers are the shops and stalls set up in the terminal building.

No sufficient time for exploring as an independent traveller on shore. No much to see in the city & weather was hot for walking. If sufficient shore time could be proivided, I could have hire a car to travel around.

Easy city to get around - port area has new walkways (shaded) and lifts to get to the start of the city.. We walked right through to the botanical gardens in about 1 hour and came back down the esplanade to view some of the historic buildings. Had it been too hot or too wet there are frequent local busses as well as a hopon/off. There is a lagoon and a bit of a sandy area that can be used for sunbathing/swimming for free and is safe from crocs and stingers. Read Less

We went to a museum on the pier opposite where our ship docked and saw a movie and information about World War II where Darwin was bombed more than Pearl Harbon. Very interesting and well worth the time. This was not offered on the ship.
