least favorite port. not much to do unless you take an excursion and the beaches aren’t very nice.

We shopped in port. Aggressive vendors on inside, pricey shops on outside. There was a pool with swim up bar that people seemed to be having fun at. This was just an ok port for us.

Can walk off into tourist area. Salt pool, chairs to sit. Warning, people will try to get you to buy a drink to sit in chair, even if you bought a drink at the other pool bar and walked over.

We took a taxi over to the Malecon where we had reserved loungers at the Tropicante Beach resort. This was free to do. We had a nice spot on the beach, with excellent service all day with great food and drink. There was no sargassum as they have their area netted off. It was a near perfect day. You do have to deal with Beach vendors peddling their wares, but a simple “no” sent them on their way. I highly recommend this for a low cost beach day. Read Less

Least favorite port, of any cruise I have been on. Many people told us they were just staying on the ship, and I found out why. Port is full of shaky salespeople who will not hesitate to become bothersome.

You don’t need to pay for an expensive tour to go to a beach or resort. If you take the four dollar tram into the city, most people have places you can go for not too much money.

Taxi cab to a great beach. Delicious lunch and shopping. Then back to the port for a final drink at the swim up bar before heading back to the ship.

We had booked a 48 hour excursion to Chichen Itza which would have included an overnight and then back to the boat in Cozumel. We had paid for the excursion and it was one of the most highly anticipated portions of the cruise (and the only reason we continued with the cruise after Cuba was cancelled). We didn't know the excursion was cancelled until the night before, after we went down and asked. The excursion desk treated my husband like an idiot. Said they did not offer any such excursion and made him go to the room and bring back our MSC issued tickets to prove we had paid for the excursion. We were told that the excursion was no longer offered and that this excursion had never happened in the past for anyone. If we had known this, we would not have taken this cruise. Our disappointment was met with coldness and rudeness by the excursion staff and repeated copies of the MSC excursion policy print out shoved at us. Really disappointing and stressful. Horrible experience. Read Less

Did not book an excursion here. If you just decide to get off the ship here and walk around it is basically just made up of tourist trap stores. If your looking for jewelry there are some stores but basically not much there.

We only got off ship for a short while hear for about an hour of shopping. We treated this as a "ship day" and enjoyed the less crowded pool.

It was hot and humid, so we shopped at the port for an hour or so, watched the flying Mayans act in the port area then got back on the ship.

I'm not a fan of this port. Without an excursion, you're better to just take advantage of the empty pool and empty bars on the ship.
