Costa Maya can be a fun port when the ship is able to dock and isn't thwarted by high winds as it has been for us a couple of times in the past. We tried a different beach resort this time, it was just okay, but I would recommend La Chilangaloense instead - La Chilangaloense was just a better experience: better area of the beach, better food selection & quality, more fun for the money - their VIP ...

Aviarius is very nice and worth the money. You get to walk on multiple suspension bridges to bird habits filled with colorful beautiful birds. The Costa Maya port area has grown exponentially and is huge now. There is a faux Mayan Temple visible that is a water park. There were tons of taxis available ($4 per person to Majahaul each way). Of course no one has change so it is really $5 per unless you were prepared with change. When we first went, it was almost all dirt road from Costa Maya to Majahaul.
