This was our favorite port. You just walk off the ship and in a short circuit can go and see Napoleon's birthplace, take a dip at the public beach and have an aperitif at a cafe. Beautiful, relaxing and easy. ...

We hadn’t planned any excursions for Ajaccio. NCL had none (at any point months before the cruise day) that appealed to us, we spoke French, and decided to just figure it out. Don't bother with the Mountains and Mapeis excursion. Most of what you see is trees, trees, trees, and yet more trees, apart from a short photo stop in the woods near a tumbling stream, and a similar stop overlooking a reservoir. Ajaccio seems to be a working town, with little touristy about it, but there is a minitrain - €8 for a 45 min tour, but with a 15min stop at a park with lots of steps up ...

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on MSC Grandiosa

The ship berthed at a pier close to the town, so it was easy to walk around the town and the harbour. The lines to re-board the ship were very long and the process took over an hour. There was no MSC presence to monitor and control what was happening in the lines, and this aspect spoiled an otherwise pleasant visit to the Ajaccio. ...
