We rented a cabana on South Beach. It was a nice day and the attendant was great. I'm glad we spent our time on the quiet side of the island. The rest of the island wasn't our cup of tea.

The weather ruined this stop for us, with 65 degree (F) temperatures and 35 mph winds. All aquatic activities and the hot air balloon were canceled. That said, Coco Cay would've been enjoyable had the weather cooperated -- and, of course, the weather isn't Royal Caribbean's fault. Throngs of people returned to the ship, and RC seemed prepared for this. Nothing more to say. Read Less

There is plenty to do without buying excursions. However, if there's an excursion you want to do, keep checking prices. They seemed to fluctuate quite a bit!

The food here is great, better than on the ship in my opinion. The sand was a little bit rougher than I would have liked. I've been to other beaches in the Bahamas that have had more powdery sand. There was also next to no sea life in the ocean for good snorkeling. I think the construction chased the fish away. We did not participate in the Thrill side with the water slides due to the cost of entry. The beaches were free however, so if you don't want to spend any money, that's no problem. Read Less

Coco Cay, on the other hand, was a well-managed, first-rate experience. The perfect day we had from start to finish made up for all the hassle of traveling with two young children. We didn't pay for any of the excursions, instead "winging it" with the free attractions. Music performances greet you off the boat and there are signs and staff members there to direct you wherever you want to go. We walked everywhere easily, but there are trams if you want a ride as well. The kids played on the pirate ship right off the dock and the neighboring water playground for about a half hour. Then we headed to Chill Island to spend the day in sand and surf. Everyone was nice, pointing us to an open umbrella chair. We saw so many crabs, iguanas, and fish swimming near the rocks -- it was cool! The buffet was streamlined for efficiency with no waits. You could choose burgers, hot dogs, chicken, salads, or tacos. It was all fresh and stocked. We found a table with ease and watched the local chickens run around. We didn't eat at Captain Jack's, but we heard the wings and fries were really good. The bar lines were short and the mixed drinks were very tasty even if you're not a mixed drink sort of person. Read Less

The sand has a lot of broken shells which hurt the sole of my foot. Best not to wear flip flops. We had a bad experience with the DJ (turns out DJs are not employees). Food on the island was pretty much burgers, dogs, chicken and tacos. Probably should have gone back to the ship to each. Overall we had a great time. The zipline was about $70 and is very short; the water park for a half-day was about $44. My husband saw an ad for buy-one-get-one while on the ship. Might make sense to wait to purchase. Read Less
