Hmm, Catalina Island. It was a nice little island. We did lots of walking and saw a lot of cool shops. Besides renting bikes, renting a golf cart, taking a shuttle or signing up for an expensive excursion what else can you do in such a short time and really getting your moneys worth. Catalina'a is scenic and its waters are very clear. We were greeted by a pod of 50+ dolphins the morning we arrived. Gift shops a-plenty and most are reasonably priced. Didn't try restaurants or take organized tours. Took an open air city trolley however that drove us around Avalon. It was $4 round trip and gives you a good non-narrated tour of the tiny town. We didn't book a tour through the ship. Instead we found a booth along the peir where the tenders dropped us off. I had investigated before the cruise and really wanted to try the zip-line tour offered there. (It isn't offered through Carnival) The zip-line tour was great.
