Stayed close to port and bought a couple items from the marketplace. there were $5 buses that took you 6 minutes into town but I hear the ppl in the marketplace were very aggressive, there were impoverished children there asking for money and ppl who offered to take you "somewhere else, just around the corner for better bargains".. This was the one port I had no interest in exploring. ...
My wife and I went into town to see what the downtown looked like. We had a drink at the newest cleanest looking business "Papa Johns" and sat on their patio. Walked through cruise port and caught communal taxi to Bayahibe beach. All taxi fares shown on board next to where taxi park. A third of the price being offered on the ship, with return time mutually agreed by passengers.
