We chose "The Isle of Capri" excursion. It was absolutely beautiful. Wish we could have stayed longer on this excursion.

The port I was the most looking forward to ended up being the most disappointing. We had our one and only rainy day here. The streets are beyond crowded and everything was so very expensive. I was prepared for the expense as I knew about it from my research. However, it was just annoying to see so many overpriced items. And shopping seems to be a big activity on this tiny island. We did go to AnaCapri and took the skyride to the top. Can't be upset by weather as it has to rain sometimes! However, the tour guide assigned to us (via the cruise) was absolutely terrible. It was obvious he had no real interest in his job and even left us behind on Capri. We had arrived at the meeting spot 10 minutes early and spoke to our guide to tell him we were there. He told us we had lots of time and in less than 4 minutes he was gone with our group. We hadn't even left the area! All the other tour guides the ship used always did a head count and took each passengers name and room number prior to beginning the tour. Not this guy. He was walking so fast through the streets that some of the guests had a hard time keeping up with him. There were so many tourists and so many vehicles when we first arrived that if I weren't so tall it would have been very difficult to even see him to keep up with him. However, I went to the onboard cruise desk when we returned and told them of our experience. They asked me to write down the events of the day and that they would pass along my information to the person in charge. By the end of the day I had a note from the ship cruise desk telling me they took our comments very seriously. Read Less

Capri and Ana Capri - WOW! The 'Mama Mia Road' up to Ana Capri is a 'heart-stopper' - the chairlift to the top completes the mountaintop experience.

Naples/Capri was to be our big day. I booked a private tour of the Amalfi Coast. It was just tremendous! YOu don't want to miss this! We used the recommended Pleasant Travel company, pleasanttravel.com . We had Mariano Fiorentino! Quite the gentleman! And my wife says "Very handsome!" Let me try to explain why this is the only way to go. First, you are picked up right off the boat. Not only did we have a Mariano who was in a three piece suit! We had the driver also! In a great, great vehicle. Such luxory! There is no comparison to going on a silly cruise ship tour. Virtually same price ..if not cheaper... so you got to go with this. These Pleasant Travel team know how to do a trip! Since their vehicles are small, compared to a bus, they travel up through the mountains... it is just amazing. There are small towns they take you to that you cannot get to by a commercial bus...These small towns up in the mountains are quiet, gorgeous, historical, picturesque... we can only hope to go back. Naturally during this private tour Mariano was giving us the full history and stories of everywhere we want.... He would leave us a lone at each town for perhaps 30 minutes so we could walk around....all the time keeping a careful eye on us. The tours are also flexible.... he asked what we wanted to do for lunch.... he suggested visiting an Italian, real life farm for lunch. It was just great... a very different feel than the normal tourist stuff. Half way through the day, our nephew wanted to go see Pompei...no problem...they dropped us off ...and we met them a few hours later.... Pompei was good and interesting... I am not sure I would say it is a "must see"...the neatest thing about Pompei where the recovered ash/bodies.... Please, Please do at least one guided tour on the cruise. Naturally I am biased and feel we got the best one... there were things that we never would have seen if it wasn't for this great tour of the Amalfi Coast Read Less

We booked a Half-day Capri shore excursion through Shore Trips, and it was the highlight of our vacation. We stopped in Naples and took a hydrofoil boat to Capri where we met our tour guide, Constantino. We rode around in a convertible taxi and were shown many sights in Capri and Anacapri. We rode a chair lift to the top of Anacapri for some gorgeous views of the island, walked through the cobblestone streets of Capri and shopped for souvenirs, tasted Limoncello and other delicious lemon confectionaries, toured the beautiful home of Swedish doctor Axel Munthe, stopped for lunch at a wonderful local restaurant, rode the funicular cable car down the mountain, and went on a scenic boat tour around the island. Capri was our favorite destination and we loved our tour guide, Constantino, who went the extra mile for us. Read Less

Naples is huge but we found the hydrofoil docks by asking questions and then finding the right ship shuttle to the right pier. Capri was a bit rain drizzling sometimes, but at last cool! The funicular took us right up to town and then a little walk around the beauty and a breathtaking short bus ride to Marina Piccola was outstanding. Great pizza place in town for lunch (pizza was great in Rome and Venice too) and back to the hydrofoil- for what turned out to be a gut wrenching, barf bag for some ride back to Naples. We heard later that the ship was delayed awhile because some later Capri hydrofoil passengers were tardy due to the elements and the rough sea.   Read Less
