When the ship docks in Naples, passengers have a choice of seeing the Amalfi Coast or the island of Capri. Since we had driven the Amalfi Coast, we chose Capri. It is an easy port to visit on your own. The walk from the ship to the ferry stop is quite long, but there is a shuttle. The ferry is approximately 45 minutes and docks in the Marina Grande. From this busy port, you can easily book a boat ...
Mid afternoon, the boat sailed for Capri, where we just wandered the town for a few hours. It was too late in the day to be able to do the Blue Grotto, an unfortunate fact. Many passengers suggested that a better option would be to have eliminated Ponza from the schedule and allowed a day at Capri so that the grotto might be included. Capri is beautiful, but expensive and full of tourists. Be sure ...
In Naples, we took the Capri excursion which was really nice and quite an experience. We had to sample some of the Limoncello (not Lemoncello) there. Capri is probably one of the prettiest cities to visit on our cruise. The motor-ride to the top of Anacapri was like an amusement park ride, up and up and up the side of a mountain with two lane traffic on a one lane road.

We took the boat tour around Capri and stopped for a little side trip into the Blue Grotto. We enjoyed both very much. Yes, the Blue Grotto is touristy, but still a lot of fun and quite beautiful.

We then went to little towns along the Amalfi Coast, and the final night in Sorrento. Positano was crowded, full of smokers, wall to wall people. But it was charming, the water was calm for swimming and it was our fault we wanted to enjoy an evening stroll, in August, on the Amalfi Coast! Kind of like any July 4th event at the Jersey shore......Ignore Capri and go directly up the mountain to ...
Naples is huge but we found the hydrofoil docks by asking questions and then finding the right ship shuttle to the right pier. Capri was a bit rain drizzling sometimes, but at last cool! The funicular took us right up to town and then a little walk around the beauty and a breathtaking short bus ride to Marina Piccola was outstanding. Great pizza place in town for lunch (pizza was great in Rome and ...
We booked a Half-day Capri shore excursion through Shore Trips, and it was the highlight of our vacation. We stopped in Naples and took a hydrofoil boat to Capri where we met our tour guide, Constantino. We rode around in a convertible taxi and were shown many sights in Capri and Anacapri. We rode a chair lift to the top of Anacapri for some gorgeous views of the island, walked through the ...
