Do capri on your own so you can see the whole island on your time. The blue grotto was closed the day we went due to rough seas sadly but it is still just a stunningly beautiful place.

A relaying trip around the whole island. The boat was very open and informal. Our driver and guide share a very full narrative of the island and life here. This excursion does not include the Blue Grotto (and we chose it for that reason), but we were taken to 3 or 4 lovely grottoes on the back side of Capri. We were pleased with the more peaceful and quiet feel. We did wish the boat had a better PA system on it. Some of the narrative was lost in the noise of the engine. Read Less

Naples in the morning terrible but the afternoon in the ruins of huculana made up for it. The guide was good and the monuments spoke for themselves . Sadly the musuim was not open to the public but still work the money.

Booked private tour with 8 other CC members -- excellent tour of the island beginning with jetfoil trip from Naples. Minibuses are used for transportation around the island due to winding narrow roads (and of course walking). Visited the "Mamma Mia Road", Capri, Anacapri & the Church of San Michele (painted tile floor which is not tredded upon) & the Gardens of Augustus. Also took funicular down to return to Marina Grande for return trip to Naples. Tide level did not allow anyone to visit the Blue Grotto. There also is a chair lift to high point on the island, but fog had shut down the lift for most of the day. Read Less

Bused to Pompeii, kinda cool but it helps if you have a vivid imagination about what things might have looked like. Volcano is very far away considering that it buried the town. Then on to Sorrento with lots of OMG views from bus straight down to ocean 1000 feet below. Neat, scenic little touristy/souvenir town and reasonably priced. Then took high speed catamaran to Capri. Capri was the most beautiful place on our trip. Clear blue water, lots of OMG edge of cliff views (with fences), and lots of luscious plants, flowers, even cactus! Most shops closed from December to March when cold weather arrives. Many postcard views, souvenir shops and lots of inclines and steps. Overall, great scenic excursion... Read Less

Very pretty place but very touristy. Again we did our own thing rather than ships excursion. Best way to see this Island is to take a boat trip around the island and stop off at deserted coves and beaches. Worth a visit.

This was to be a half day tour, but at the last minute, it became a full day. We took a boat to Capri then a bus to Ana Capri. We were given two options, a chair lift ride to the top of the island or a tour of a museum. If one wanted to do both, there was an up charge for the additional ticket. We chose the chair lift ride which was breath taking! Next, we went to lunch at a local restaurant in Capri. It was not as good as the others we enjoyed in Rome and Florence. We then enjoyed a walking tour through gardens. While nice, it was not nearly as beautiful as other venues. After some time on our own, we took a cable car back to the marina, and then back to the ship just in time for dinner. The day was cool and partly cloudy, and I felt tired of being buffeted in crowds. We were definitely ready for a day off from tours. In fact, when an overweight man pushed his way into our already full cable car, leaving me next to no space to stand, I could only pray for a speedy decent, and couldn't wait to get back aboard the ship! We took the funicular up to Capri town (beware, there may be a line - and you have to buy your tickets behind the line before entering). We then walked down to the other side of the island to relax at Da Luigi ai Fariglioni for swimming in the Mediterranean and enjoying the craggy views. Beware that there is a charge for sunbeds and umbrellas, as well as towels. Also, if you wish to dine at the restaurant, there is a cover charge. Food was great, but many bees. Finally, the shuttle to Marina Piccolo (NOT the cruise marina) doesn't leave until 3:30. If you have a short day, talk to the lifeguard and he can book you a private water taxi for about 20 EU per person, which can be a beautiful way back to the port. Read Less

When the ship docks in Naples, passengers have a choice of seeing the Amalfi Coast or the island of Capri. Since we had driven the Amalfi Coast, we chose Capri. It is an easy port to visit on your own. The walk from the ship to the ferry stop is quite long, but there is a shuttle. The ferry is approximately 45 minutes and docks in the Marina Grande. From this busy port, you can easily book a boat tour around the island, which offers stunning views of the coastline and a close-up look at the magnificent yachts anchored all around the island. There are stops at the Green Grotto, the White Grotto, and the famous Blue Grotto. At the Blue Grotto, passengers hop into a small rowboat, lie flat, and slip through a small opening into a cavern of beautiful turquoise water. As we marveled at the beauty of the cavern, one of the rowers was singing an aria that echoed magnificently off the stone walls. After our cruise, we boarded the Funicular up to Capri Town. Wonderful views and interesting people-watching. Very upscale shops, no cars, lots of sidewalk cafes. If time allows, you can also visit Anacapri and the Marina Piccola. Read Less

We did our own trip to Capri instead of heading along the Amalfi coast & Pompeii which we have done before After docking at 7 a.m we ran to purchase jet boat tickets for the first trip of the day The jet boat ticket office is just a five minute walk from where the ship docked. A one-way ticket was 17 Euros and a 45 minute jet boat ride. Once we arrived at the dock we took the funicular up to Capri town followed by a local bus up to Anacapri. In Anacapri we took the chairlift to the top of the Mount Solaro. The views were amazing but it was an experience get the courage to get on the chair lift but it was definitely worth the effort . I recommend getting there early in the morning before it gets busy. After coming back down we walked around Anacapri & took a taxi back to Capri. Before relaxing with a well earned drink at a fantastic bar. A fantastic but very busy day. Read Less
