Once again we waited until arriving in Cairns to book tours as it is a lot cheaper than booking through the cruise. We went to Geen Island on the first day and did the Seawalker experience. Well worth the money to do it.

Unfortunately we did not arrive in Cairns but at Yorkey Knob. There was a busservice to go to Cairn and had to pay for it not too much. The bus was very comfortable. Cairns has a great boulevard to walk and play for all ages. We were amazed how this was set up. There is even a very nice public pool with great area to BBQ, which we did. Cooked sausages for afternoon lunch. The weather was not so great so we did not stay too long. Read Less

Really enjoyed visiting Cairns. Didn't mention it earlier, but the street map provided by Princess was dated 2008. Somewhat out of date, but the locals helped us find what we were looking for!

Yorkeys Knob is a fair distance from Cairns so we hired a small car for the 2 days and did our own travelling. Kuranda Markets is always a good place to start, Barron Falls, the railway - a bit pricey though.

Booked a hire car which was delivered to the wharf and drove up to Port Douglas. Easy and nice scenic drive. Chaotic tendering meant time was limited.

Beautiful place with a nice lagoon. Worth the shuttle fee to go into the town and back.
