First thing to note is that there is no port to get off the boat at Cabo. The way that you get off the boat is by taking a water shuttle. There are 3 different ways that you can get on the shuttle; the first is by booking an excursion through carnival, you will be on the firsts shuttles out in order to get to your excursion on time; the second is by waiting in line the day prior to get passes, after the excursion people are off they call pass numbers, once yours is called you’re able to get on a shuttle the smaller the number the earlier you can get off; the last is simply waiting until the shuttles are open, about 3 hours later. My family and I got the passes the day before on deck 5, there was a long line and wait to get them, you only need one person to go down to get them for the entire group. They are on a board and are almost like business card style and you grab what you want then go. When our number was called we went down to deck 0 and gave our passes (which they didn’t even look at our count) and we were able to get off. Once we got to the land we knew that we wanted to go to the beach and were trying to find a way to get there. Apparently you have to take a water taxi a short distance unless you want to drive or walk for 2 hours. I don’t know how true that is but we took the water taxi and honestly were upset on how short a distance it took us. After paying the taxi driver, when we got off we had to pay another fee to get off the boat. It didn’t make sense to me, I guess because we used the small port and that was the port fees. I don’t know. Anyways we walked to the beach. After walking on the sand there were things that looked like ice. Turns out they are Jelly Fish, so be careful where you step. They are dead so my cousin touched them and they didn’t sting but you could still possibly get side effects later. If you plan on eating at one of the restaurants on the beach I suggest just taking Uber (it works in Mexico) because the walk was wayyyy too long and that’s what my cousins used to get back to where you get on the water shuttles. Everything is expensive there so be careful on where you go unless you don’t mind spending money. The water and the beach were so beautiful and breath taking that I believe it’s something that everyone should experience in their life. The cruise ship passes the famous arch so get out there early to get some good pictures. It is extremely humid in the summer time. Read Less

I first visited Cabo in 1997. It's really gone downhill, especially in the last 5 years. Just an open air mall for ripping off estupido gringos. If you must, shop in the low-slung, very Mexican market right behind the Marlin statue in the harbor. Just try to enjoy the haggling. It's a game for them. Learn a few phrases in Spanish (like: I wish I could pay you that much for this!) And for goodness sake never pay more than half their initial price. Start with a third and bargain up from there. Theres no place for the ship to dock so you have to take a tender to get off the ship. The day before they hand out tickets to get on the tender quicker. We waited in line for 30 minutes to get on the boat an hour quicker so not sure it was worth it. I would go earlier next time maybe 20 minutes before the scheduled time. We took a water taxi tour before lunch. My brother bargained the guy down from $20 per person to $15. He was really great took us all around to many places and took a ton of photos of us at the famous arch before finally dropping us off on Medano Beach. Told him to return for us in 3 hours. We walked 5 mins down the beach to Omega Sports Bar and Grill. The Office is the most popular restaurant, but I had read more than a couple reviews of people getting overcharged so I was not going there. Omega was great. They had a very large hut covered seating area so we enjoyed lunch and beers out of the sun. After lunch our kids played in the ocean while we relaxed closeby. My wife enjoyed a very tasty mango margarita. I had a couple of beers. For lunch I had the special of 2 fish tacos and a beer for $6. It also added one beef taco. They wee all very good. Ryan got pancakes which was so beautifully presented I had to take a picture. It was served along side with mango, banana, cantelope, and pineapple. Our captain was right on time picking us up. More typical touristy city. The buildings were modern and hotels and attractions everywhere along the pier. Streets were clean and shops were very nice from the local vendors to the more high dollar jewelry businesses.

Be prepared to walk the gang plank of about 200 Mexican solicitors that try and work you over unmercifully for side trips, adventures, taxis, shops ect. ect. No joke as this occurs literally the moment you leave the tender all the way to the frontage streets at the port. The vendors offer the typical crap at rip off prices and try and strong arm you to buy. We made a u turn after 15 minutes of pure hell and boarded a tender back to the ship. We have been to Cabo over a dozen times and they have really ruined it, A few years ago they had lots of little arts and crafts stalls at the port that were a ball to shop[. They all have been moved out in favor of in-line shops that pay high rents and are forced to muscle tourists into paying high prices for shoddy trinkets. Lot's of drunks walking the streets carrying mega mugs of tequila. We went back to the ship and had the entire pool to ourselves along with a hot dog and fries that were really tasty. Forgot to mention thet the poolside hamburger stand is the best we have enjoyed on any cruise. Lot's of goodies to but on your burger or dog. Read Less

We went jewelry shopping with the cruise shopping guide Gail. It was great. I wish we would have had more time to explore. The last tender boat was at 1:30, so we were all pressed for time. Beautiful place.

Due to rendering and early departure we only had 3 hours in Cabo so we ordered an Uber to take us to an empty beach. The driver took it upon himself to just drop us off at the packed tourist beach a mile away from where we wanted, with no cell service on the beach we decided to stay. We had a bucket of beer, some guacamole, and 3 tacos which came to $50. Lol. Don’t get me wrong, first time in Cabo and it looked beautiful but 3 hours in not hardly enough time to explore the city.
