We did a city walking tour, and then hiked to the castle to have lunch (separately), it was the highlight of the trip.

Most beautiful town in Germany. Excellent place to walk and check out the shops. The wine tasting at the wine museum was a joy. I wish we had more time in Bernkastel-Kues.

The add-on tour of the Moselle here was good, until we hit the beer tasting in a former monastery. The staff were short-handed, and "the woman who speaks English" had taken a day off. We had to be squeezed into several small tables, and it was both noisy and uncomfortable. This stop was immediately followed by an included wine tasting in town, and that's what I should have done. BK is a lovely village, but we took a bus trip to Luxembourg for the day which was very interesting. I'm so glad we went, although it was a Sunday so all the shops were closed, as was the palace- still well worth seeing. The highlight was visiting the American Cemetery where general Patton and the 5700+ US soldiers who gave their lives in the Battle of the Bulge are buried. Very moving. Read Less

Truly charming and picturesque little town, with a nice guided tour. Had wine tasting afterwards, which was fine but after having 6 Rieslings they all start to taste the same lol

Interesting visit to a wine tasting in the centre. The town was just about to celebrate the wine harvest so was buzzing with food stalls, fairground rides etc unfortunately we left the day before the festival began.

I think this may have been almost the best village we stopped at. The houses were fun, but the tour guide was great.

Probably the best port stop with a 10 minute walk into town. More excellent shopping and a town full of old-world character.

a good tour of the town, and a reasonable local lunch. We had a ride o a local ferry but that did not really compensate for our ship being unable too sail on the Moselle..
