Don't be misled; the port is Warnemunde, Berlin is a few hours inland by coach. The rail station was very close so we made our own way to Rostock (about 20 minutes) but was a bit disappointed with it so didn't stay long. The port stop was actually in Warnemunde, a popular German resort town. We loved the German experience, and the expansive beach. Those who did take the coaches to Berlin lived to regret it, given the fact that they spend most of the day on the bus. But, worth it, if that your only chance to see that historic city. ...

Our ship docked at Warnemunde, which is a popular beach resort area for the Baltic We chose to ride the S Bahn to Rostock, about 15 minutes away instead of the 6 hour round trip to Berlin. Rostock is a much larger town dating back to medieval times. It's university was the first of it's kind, being founded in 149. The most interesting site for us was the Stasi (East German Police) ...
