We didn't go to Berlin as the journey time was several hours, instead we visited the small town of Waramunde where the ship berthed and also took a train to Rostock (dont forget to validate your tickets on the platform if you do use the train) which is a pleasant enough town with lots of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.
