Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Mars

Where do I start? My wife and I are 70 and active. We have also cruised on Celebrity and Oceania several times. This was our first Viking cruise. After two weeks I just wanted off the Viking Mars. For the same money the suites in other cruise lines are larger and better appointed. The decor in the Viking suite made you want to get out the room. The food was often cold and bland. The ...

Wished we had never gone!

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Venus

The main reason we chose this cruise was to go do some activities in the snow. we prebooked and paid in full for the excursions we wanted to do. Eg: Stay in an Ice Hotel overnight, go reindeer sleighing, husky sleigh ride and ride a snow-mobile. We DID NOT do any of these. We tried booking a helicopter ride at one of the replacement ports and that got cancelled too. Then tried to rebook a ...

This is not a cruise ship, it's a ferry

The ship is a poor uncomfortable noisy ferry. The cabin (we picked the one with windows and partial view- no other option available) it’s really small. There is a very small closet. The tv shows nothing. The bathroom is so small that you want to shower with open door just to have some air. They clean the cabin daily and they do a good job. The common area are invaded by backpackers who ...

BEWARE!!!! My Wife and I went on the Vesteralen I'm not sure if spelling correct but it doesn't matter it was the worst holiday we have had in our lives and couldn't wait to get of the boat The officers on board were rude and not customer focused The accommodation was two bunk beds in a room that could hardly fit two people in it I had to sleep on the floor as the top bunk made me ...

Very Disappointing - for many reasons

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Venus

The Good: The ship is nice and the ports are interesting. Manfredi’s is a great place and the man who manages it is a very accommodating fellow. Our room Steward was very good. The not-so-good: The silver liquor package is not worth it anymore. When we traveled with Viking on the Budapest to Amsterdam river cruise the higher-end wine and liquor were worth the extra money – on this ...

BORING and EXPENSIVE!!!!

My land tour was cancelled at the last minute and I had to find an alternative. Hurtigruten was all I could find but it is little more than a passenger ferry and an expensive one at that! I could have bought a new car for what I paid Hurtigruten and they‘nickel and dime’ their passengers for everything from extortionate alcohol prices to expensive bus ride excursions which passengers could do ...

Better ways to spend your time and money

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Jupiter

We chose this cruise because we wanted to see the natural beauty of Norway. While we saw some of it, the tours were mediocre at best, the cultural experiences and food were lacking and contrived, and most importantly, expectations were managed so poorly that it was a big problem any time you needed information. From Covid testing to basic information on luggage, transfers, ...

Disappointing, traumatic and a waste of money. Deeply saddened.

Look, I LOVED my Norwegian coastal cruise -- which is why I booked this trip during the height of Covid. It was postponed for two years. I was thrilled to board the ship and was looking forward to a great trip. NOT. This was the first time this itinerary was done by Hurtigruten and the inexperienced expedition team had never been to this area and their answers to everything was "I don't know, I've ...

Plague ship of broken promises!

Hurtigruten does not care about its’ customers, this much is clear. It cares only about revenues. It is an arrogant organisation with contempt for the law and those it takes money from. Let’s be quite direct. This is hosteling at 5* prices and any commitments made by the company are freely discardable at their discretion. So why have I come to this conclusion following a trip on “The most ...

Not what was advertised

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Viking Sea

Room: Had Deluxe Veranda that, per Viking, was 270 sf. As soon as we opened the room door, it was a shock. I measured: 193sq not including the balcony. Storage: Three drawers in cabinet, one drawer in each night table - and the closet. Hardly enough. Communication: Abysmal. In the first three days (yes, three days) I had to go to Guest Services (GS) 15 times - I finally stopped counting. ...
