Expensive mistake

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Spitsbergen

Went on this voyage to see the Northern Lights. NO Northern Lights. Hurtigruten advertise a free trip if you do not see them, but you have to have an inside cabin, pay through the nose for your food. A real advertising gimmick and not to be trusted. The ship is ok, but you have to buy everything except for the air you breath. Meals are included and so is the ghastly coffee out of a massive tank. ...

The experience was overwhelming spectacular

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Zhao Shang Yi Dun (Viking Sun)

Unpacking once and being able to experience multiple ports of calls by simply stepping off the ship was wonderful. The food overall was delicious and we had many choices of cuisine and restaurants. . It was fun to taste the local cuisine at lunch and dinner in each port of call. The guides were so knowledgeable and having the Port talks and Q&As helped tremendously. It enabled the experience of ...

Very unhappy with service and food. Food was less than average and service was worse. Had one hot meal at dinner on a 16 day trip. Majority of staff unattentive and not well trained .Asked server at pool bar what types of beer were being offered and he replied, "I don't know." Got the same answer at one of the specialty restaurants. Neither server made an effort to find out. Cabin #6025 was ...

Overpriced

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Nordlys

The travel timings were precise and everything went smoothly. However all the meals in the restaurant were lukewarm and often ran out without being replenished. The restaurant service was slow and the prices for the wine, beer etc were overpriced. The cheapest bottle of house wine was NOK 500. We priced in local supermarkets at NOK 124. Considering that Hurtigruten would purchase this at a ...

This is the worst cruise in my cruising life. Paid for a suite and get as the prisoner meal, eat it or go to deck 7 paid for your favorite meal.that was not people who paid for expensive room and get the hopeless meal. Don't expect live entertainment in other luxury cruise. You will get bore after 3 days. Tour desk officer are very rude, junior promise multi excursion get discount, she ...

Deisel Engine Ferry: Not a cruise

This cruise was booked by friends, thus I would not have chosen it. Staff was rude, cabin was changed three times, food was the same for 12 days and nights, and hot, congested public spaces were horrendous. No entertainment or stimulation, so it felt like a prison sentence. Highly disappointed, plus received no feedback from the cruise line after contacting management. Don’t waste your ...

Complete waste of money

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Richard With

Always wanted to visit the fjords in Norway and go up to Kirkenes. I paid almost $5000USD and I informed them I was a vegetarian when I booked the trip. Despite having paid a huge amount of money and having paid for a full board, as a vegetarian I pretty much starved on this cruise. They didn't even bother to make any attempt to cook anything remotely decent as vegetarian food for a res. E roved ...

The Cruise from Hell

After all the publicity regarding the Viking Sky off the coast of Norway and the impact on the passengers, it appears that it is not widely recognized what happened to us on the Viking Star in early October of 2016. Our captain, and I am sure Viking, went directly in a significant storm when sailing from Iceland to Greenland in the North Atlantic. According to the captain, who I spoke with ...

BAD EXPERIENCE

This was my third hurtigruten voyage, others being finnmarken and midnatsol. I had a very noisy cabin which i complained about. I could see other empty cabins on the same deck on more than one occasion. Why wasn't i moved? I was free wine by the restaurant manager on account of my lousy cabin which i declined. I made a request whilst on board. I repeated the request asking another member of the ...

We have sailed with Viking before to China and on the Tulip river cruise. We wanted to enjoy a larger boat with more options for eating and recreation and evening entertainment. We also wanted to go to a New Itinerary and the "Into The MIdnight Sun" looked like great ports to see in Norway and Scotland - we also went first to Iceland and later for a couple of days in London area after the ...
