Great cruise. Don't let Viking Air Book your flights!

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Sea

Chose this cruise for the destinations. However, we booked our cruise through the Viking Air Division. At first we were booked on Scandinavian Air but we were switched to British Airways. Unfortunately this was the weekend of British Airways IT disaster. Viking got us to London all right, but we were told in Newark that our connecting flight from London to Bergen, Norway would wait for us. ...

Viking has a long way to go

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Sea

The itinerary looked promising and some friends had raved about their experience on a similar Viking cruise in 2015. It's OK, but Viking has some problems: - Viking requires payment of the entire cost of the cruise at the time of booking, in our case $14,000 paid 19 months before scheduled departure. - Viking has no traveler support while passengers are trying to reach somewhat obscure ...

Okay but not terrific

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Sky

The problem with this cruise is as follows: too many stops and not enough time to see the places of interest. The Baltics are an area that require more time and focus. This trip was once over lightly. I objected to the price of the extra trips. Many of them were outrageous. For example the price of a visit to the Hermitage Museum was absurd. I purchased two tickets online from the Museum ...

Covers a lot of territory and so checks off a lot of boxes but

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Sky

I wanted to see the Hermitage in St. Petersburg mainly. In spite of this being a small ship as far as ocean going cruises is concerned, I still felt "herded" on a grand scale every day. That is my issue and not Viking's. It goes with the territory. I was disappointed in the Jewish Heritage tour in Gdansk. Very thin from a content point of view. Most tour guides were excellent as were the tours but ...

You have to pay 'extra' for coffee and high quality dinners

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Kong Harald

First Time Cruiser • Age 60s

To experience the coast of Norway from the water we choose the 10-day round trip from Bergen. Upon embarking the ship we are told we cannot access our cabin for two hours and we are informed that we can 'upgrade our evening meal by paying an additional 299 Norwegian Kroner and sit in an exclusive dining room. What? We paid close to $10,000 USD for our 'all inclusive' cruise and the 'upgraded' ...

My husband and I booked a Baltic cruise with Viking in early 2016 for a May 2017 trip. Having been on an amazing Viking river cruise, we convinced three other couples to sign up too.....what a mistake! Our trip had a rough start due to weather/airline problems in the US. When we finally arrived at Bergen, we were whisked away from the airport before being allowed to get our luggage.....so we ...

Cruise Truncated and No Aurora Alerts

Until I watched Hurtigruten's webinar on the their winter cruises as a way to see an aurora, i didn't think it would be a good way to see the aurora. My impression of the Norwegian coast in the fall was cold and rainy -- and it was. In the webinar Hurtigruten hyped their aurora alert system and said that for cruises 11 days or longer you would get a free 7 day cruise if there were no aurora ...

Viking Star Cruise

We chose this cruise because of the route and stops on this cruise The cruise was from Bergen Norway stopping at the Shetland Islands, the Farro Islands, Iceland, Greenland, the Viking archeological site in Newfoundland, and then down the St.Lawrence River to Montreal. This was the first transatlantic crossing for the Viking Star which was first put into service in 2015 and had been in service in ...

Zuiderdam I sailed from Bergen to NYC.Sailing through Hermine the captain made the correct call missing Nova Scotia and head for NYC. Viking is slipping!

1. This cruise was booked and paid for in January 2014. January 24, 2014 – to be exact. (I still have the emails.) At that time, the booking number was xxxxxxx. Viking had email addresses for both travelers but only showed my cabin mate's mailing address, even though we made it clear that we were 2 singles traveling together and that we did NOT have the same address. ) At the time of booking, ...
