We choose this cruise because of the itinerary. Let me start off by saying the ship is beautiful, clean, well kept. The crew from Captain through to cabin steward were amazing. Always looking to please and helping with any problems that may occur. Can't say enough about the crew.
Now for the negatives. I am a 75 year old senior citizen as is my travel companion. We are very active ...
We chose this cruise because of the itinerary and because the Viking Sea was a new ship. We have been on a Viking River Cruise and enjoyed the cruise. The embarkation was easy to move through and our luggage was delivered promptly. We found the ship to be fantastic, beautifully decorated and easy to navigate. No area of the ship ever felt crowded. The crew, for the most part, was be top notch, ...

My wife and I booked this cruise with Readers Offers from the daily newspapers. We flew to Bergen to meet the ship but were told, along with all the other passengers, that the ship was delayed because of bad weather. We were accommodated in a hotel in Bergen whilst waiting for the ship. In reality, the ship was delayed from dry dock in Denmark and the maintenance staff were still working on the ...
Advertised as a cruise ship going up to the very North of Norway. It was not a cruise ship as understood by the name but a merchant /car ferry with passengers..The trip started badly with the ship delayed and we were put up in a local 2 star hotel, food was good but room was poor with many items broken in the bathroom. Moved to a better room shower better.. Transport from airport to hotel was ...
We thought this was a cruise. It turned out being a ferry pretending to be a cruise ship.

My wife and I choose this cruise based on the itinerary. It was called "In the Wake of the Vikings". We left Seattle on Seattle on Sept. 15 the spend some time in Norway. We flew through Iceland to Oslo and took the train from Oslo to Bergern; a wonderful trip. We arrived in Bergen on the evening of the 17th with the intent of checking in on the Ship and doing some planned activities. We arrived ...
This was our first, and likely last, trip with Hurtigruten. Many months prior to embarkation, we had selected a cruise offered only once per year, the "classic cruise" with a Viking supplement; i.e. an expert, Gareth Williams, from the British Museum would be on board and lecturing on Viking history. While awaiting our flight from LAX to Stockholm, we received an email from our travel agent that ...
We chose this Cruise for its Itinerary of 8 counties in Scandinavia along with initial reviews of Viking Stars first year at sea.
In 2015 we cruised on CRYSTAL SERENITY from Istanbul to Venice so it was our benchmark vs Viking Star.
Let me start with the positives ,Embarkation was seamless, with Viking Star staff having my tagged bags on their way before I payed taxi. Like Crystal they ...
Just returned from a six-night trip from Bergen to Kirkenes. While we did sail on the MS Polarlys I think my comments are germane to all of Hurtigruten's ships. The main purpose of our trip was to see the Northern Lights and we did. We saw them all three nights we were in the Arctic Circle; two nights they were pretty weak but the third night they were really nice. So that was cool!
Our cabin ...
