Final port,Bergen, berthed here and it is Norway`s second largest city.Preserved on the harbour front are some old type Viking buildings and the market is a sight to see,the only reason for down-rating, is that it was the first port were the sun was not shining and it did rain soon after we walked ashore.I believe,we were told,it has a reputation for having 300 days of rain a year. So,why do we complain about our weather ???? Bergen in the primary port of call and with much to see. Beware of rain chances that are frequent. The ports on the cruise are listed with as short or long time ashore as needed by the ship or by scheduled shore excursions. Vantage arranged many short walks and tours with our group that resembled the ship tours. The Hurtigruten tours will seem costly to some. Beware that some stops are only 15 -30 minutes long! Weather and sea conditions can change the schedule. Ports with more time allowed included: Alesund, Tromso, Honnigsvagg (North Cape), Kirkenes and Trondheim. A few tours leave at one port and return at another. You may not be able to depend on immediate transportation on the docks and a few stops have some walking to the busier points. Listing all of the ports and sites is difficult. There is a booklet that may be given with your tour that provides many trip details. Be prepared for highly variable weather depending on the season and distance north. On this trip, temperature ranged from 33-38 deg. F. up north to 74 deg. F. on return to Bergen. The weather can change in minutes and layered clothing/shoes that's windproof and waterproof (depending on the month). The winds can be very gusty or dead calm. The day's light or dark depends on the season.   Read Less

Unfortunately it was raining for most of the time but we managed to get up in the cable car before the cloud descended. Wonderful views on a good day easily done independently

Bergen was a beautiful city now suffering a lot from litter ans graffiti. If you time is short we recommend the short mountain train trip to the Floyen, overlooking the port. Expect some rain.

The funicular ride up Mount Floien in Bergen gave beautiful panoramic views of the city. It does rain a lot in Bergen and we were unable to see much that afternoon. Read Less

Final stop was Bergen which was a lovely little town. We went up the Funicular railway which was 7, the views of Bergen were good even in the rain, although watch how low the clouds are. We went around the Fish market where they let you taste the produce, including caviar and the seafood is amazing, they had a seafood night in the Lido Restaurant after visiting Bergen. Old Bergen (Bryggan) was very nice to wander around, wood boarding on the floor and lots of little shops once you came off the main road next to the quay, alleyways to wander down and see the backs of the very old houses. Again the ship is very close to Bergen about a 5 - 10 minute walk to the main area of Bergen. We got soaked again in Bergen, and there is another road train that takes you around Bergen, don't know the price for it though.   Read Less

Missed much of Bergen, as I was still in transit overland from Flam via train. See Voss this way if you have time, as part of the "Norway In A Nutshell" tour. So I only saw the Hanseatic Houses along the waterfront. Very scenic, very rainy. Those who took the funicular to the hilltop which overlooks Bergen told me they really enjoyed itbut also said to make sure to bring sturdy shoes and an umbrella. Read Less
