Amazing Journey

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Maud

A journey up the Norwegian coast in the winter is like a fairy tale. It's amazing! To see Norway in a more natural light, without tourists, and snow covered is a wonderful experience. I'm so glad I did this. The ship is lovely, and filled with like minded people, all attracted by the prospect of seeing the northern lights. My cruise had many Brits, plus Dutch, Belgium, Germans, Americans... ...

Great Experience

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Vesteralen

First Time Cruiser • Age 50s

My first trip on the Vesteralen was great. Beautiful scenery, northern lights, cute villages and nice people in a quiet atmosphere. The interior of the ship is simplel and dated (or vintage depending on your point of view). But cosey and there was enough place everywhere to sit (as we were in low season). The food was good to excellent, with a large variety of choice. Water was included in all ...

Norway's Coastal Voyage onboard MS Nordnorge - September 2015

Review for a Europe - All Cruise on Nordnorge

Last September, my wife and I boarded the MS Nordnorge for a “Voyage of Discovery” (Bergen-Kirkenes-Trondheim). This was our second Coastal Voyage, and the third time we have traveled with Hurtigruten. In those previous opportunities, we have been onboard the MS Trollfjord (2008) and on the MS Fram (2010). We enjoyed the whole journey very much. The coastal views of Norway are fantastically and ...

A Hurtigruten Arctic Sea Adventure, With Great Food and Beautiful Scenery

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Kong Harald

I read many Hurtigruten reviews before my trip but they did not prepare me well for what to expect, so I wanted to provide some helpful tips and observations: Weather: I was on a 6 day north-bound cruise at the end of July, the height of the Norwegian summer. It was cold (45-55 degrees F), windy, and sometimes rainy. Dress warmly, with down jackets, raincoats, hats, scarves, boots, and light ...

We did the pre-trip Oslo and Bergen Rail. The Oslo and Bergen hotels were very nice. The scenery on the train ride from Oslo to Bergen was fantastic. I highly recommend this ride. Seeing the Viking Star docked in Bergen for the first time was awesome. It is a beautiful ship. The embarkation process was quick and easy. The food was great and Manfredi's was excellent. Wasn't impressed with The ...

The Trouble with High Standards is High Expectations

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Star

Viking River Cruises have developed such high standards that anyone with experience of this comes aboard the Viking Star with high expectations. Unfortunately, this can cause disappointment. The saving grace is that Viking’s Ocean cruising is in its infancy, and they certainly can be expected to improve with time. The Viking Homelands Cruise was very good, and the ship itself is ...

A Fine Viking Home Cruise

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Star

My wife and I chose this cruise as our first cruise ever because it was going to destinations that were on our list in the Baltic, and the ship would be newly built and crewed. It was also smaller than the large vessels at under 1000 passengers and every cabin had a balcony. We weren't disappointed. Passenger service was very good and the staff was friendly. The only down side was an ...

Loved our cruise

Normally, we do our own air, but this time we had Viking take care of all of the arrangements. They did a very good job finding us a direct flight and having people meet us for further transportation. We extended our trip with the pre-cruise London package. Although the rooms of the hotel (Radisson Blu near Oxford St) were very small, the location was great, the service people were very helpful, ...

My wife and I had previously taken a Viking River Cruise and we had a wonderful time. Everything was well planned and the staff and crew were exceptional. Food, beverages, schedule and excursions were outstanding. Therefore, when we received the notice of a new Viking ship to cruise the Baltic Sea we immediately signed up for one of the top suites. The Viking Star is a great ship - ...

Superb staff

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Viking Star

the cruise met most of my expectations, exceeded in service and staff, but was disappointed in areas I expected more from Viking: 1--while the bathrooms far exceeded any of our previous cruise experiences, the size of the cabin was less than luxurious in terms of size. difficult to maneuver between beds, closets and furniture. expected more comfort. 2--the number of staff on board was ...
