Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Nordkapp

We chose the Hurtigruten cruise line as the best way to see the Norwegian fjords. We arrived Bergen where we had 1 1/2 days prior to boarding the Nordkapp. Bergen is a delightful city. The embarkation was the quickest and most simple we have ever experienced. The cabin we had was an "L" class. It was quite small, with two slightly larger than cot size beds. One of which folded up during the ...

An e-mail designated the cruise which seemed fabulous. An immediate phone call to a Viking representative indicated a hot demand requiring an immediate signing up. We received the same cabin as last year. It is a wonderful cabin, No. 4011. Malitza and Danica were absolutely fabulous cabin stewards attending astutely to every problem and need. There also provided friendship and humor ...

Great Ship - Nice Itinerary - Some Service Issues

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Viking Star

The ship is great and the food was awesome. There are no formal nights, no casino, and no photographers constantly bothering the passengers. There is one free shore excursion in every port. There is no up charge for the 2 specialty restaurants. Free wine & beer at lunch, dinner, and in your cabin. It is a great concept! The entertainment was very good, especially some of the guest performers. ...

We chose In the Wake of the Viking cruise because of the route it sailed from Norway across the North Atlantic/Labrador seas to Montreal. And the ports it stopped at during the cruise Ship was always clean and orderly. And staff very attentive. We had excellent cabin attendants. Dining was very good, especially the World dining buffet. Great variety of food and excellent preparation. ...

Itinerary looked very intriguing to us, plus we received mail offer for 2-for-1 prices and discounted airfare. Highlights include the city tour of Bergen, free time to wander around Bergen (especially funicular to top of the mountain), Reykjavik and swimming in the Blue Lagoon, hiking around L'Anse Aux Meadows in Newfoundland, and sightseeing in Quebec City. Lowlights were sailing through ...

New Places, New Ship, Needs Improvement

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Viking Sea

We went on this repositioning cruise because of the unusual itinerary. Norway, Shetland Islands, Iceland, Greenland, Faroe Islands, Newfoundland, Quebec and Montreal. It involved following how Vikings made their way to North America. The Viking Star was not quite ready for the heavy seas it encountered that cause quite a bit of broken dishes, glass and even one elevator. The crew we talked to said ...

Lots of great things about my Viking experience. I loved my room, the great showers, in-room coffee/latte, balcony, tv and service. The food was excellent and most importantly the staff really worked hard to make your experience special. I was a bit disappointed with some of the excursions and I think for my next trip I will exclude them completely and either arrange my own or just go out and ...

We chose this cruise primarily because it included Istanbul. However, that was changed to Athens and we understand that though were disappointed. Then due to an unfortunate engine problem with the ship, we arrived in Athens late at night and had to disembark at 4 A.M. the next day so we missed Athens too. Getting to the ship from the airport was very easy as there were Viking Reps at the ...

We chose this cruise due to an email we got from Viking with a special offer price. We were escorted from the airport in Bergen with plenty of Viking staff in attendance. The weather in Bergen was normal rain. We were taken to the ship and the registration process was very quick with your passport being scanned as well as your credit card this gave the picture for your cruise card. That was ...

Wanted to see Scandinavia. We enjoyed the cruise, and really liked the size of the ship. The additional tours we took were very enjoyable except for Germany/Berlin. Would have preferred more time in Amsterdam or Helsinki. We have traveled with Viking and are looking forward to our ocean and river cruises we have booked for next year. The rooms and service were very nice. The restaurants were ...
