Hurtigruten Kong Harald. Bergen to Kirkenes

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Kong Harald

Having talked about taking a Hurtigruten cruise through the Norwegian fjords for some years my wife and I have just returned after completing the six-day voyage from Bergen to Kirkenes on board the Kong Harald. As other reviewers have pointed out, this is not a classic cruise ship but more an up-market ferry. My first impression of the ship was that she was highly functional, well maintained and ...

Dining Breakfast A wide variety of food some of it appetizing and some of it not. Lunch Towards the end of the trip it was a little repetitive for the smorgasbord at lunch.I think they tried hard for variety but I guess it depends on whats available. There was some attempt at providing for gluten and lactose free diets. There was always some alternatives just not a lot of ...

I choose this cruise because I wanted to see the fjords of Norway and it was magical. The people working on board was smiling and very helpful. The food was excellent. The cabin was small but very clean. There were lots of different excursions some more expensive than other. I did travel on my own but I talked with other people. The wheater was cold because I traveled in marts so take this in ...

It was something we had always wanted to do and the lovely relaxed atmosphere on the ship, together with good service, lovely food, wonderful weather, made it almost perfect. We went to some lovely towns and liked the fact that there were lots of opportunities to get off the ship and look around, as well as the really great excursions. Although we didn’t get to see the Northern Lights, the ...

The journey with Hurtigruten on the MS Finnmarken was the most wonderful I ever made. The norwegian fjords are fantastic and this fresh arctic air makes you stay on the upper deck all day, you get addicted to it. Most comfortable thing was the sauna and the two jaccuzis on the rear deck - it is too lovely to sit in the hot tub and see the ship leaving Kristiansund or Tromso or whatever!! ...

We chose this cruise as Hurtigruten is well known and can get into all the smaller fiords, although the ship was delayed into Bergenwhich was quite stressful after having a long day travelling .. the cabin 630 mini. Suite was lovely although we didn’t have a full bed change the whole of our 11 nights... dining was ok food was good but the food was not replenished quick enough people was waiting ...

Amazing scenery and very good staff

Review for a Arctic Cruise on Trollfjord

We chose the cruise on MS Trollfjord after seeing an article in a women's magazine the previous year. It was a Northern Lights cruise with Wildlife. Michael Strachan was on the ship for a few days which was an added attraction. We had to book through Iglu Cruises/Planet Cruise and felt that it would have been better to have booked directly with Hurtigruten. Iglu told us that one of the ...

Bringing the scenery to you

A wonderful way to see the Norwegian coast in comfort. It would be a completely different experience in summer - many people were on their 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th trip. It is essential to do the full Bergen to Kirkenes and return voyage to make the best of it. Remember this is not a cruise, it is a working boat stopping frequently. Make sure you are on one of the newer boats and that it has an ...

Ideal way to see Norway and NorthernLights...

Review for a Norwegian Fjords Cruise on Richard With

Ft and foremost this is not a 'traditional' cruise but more of a coastal journey. Anyone who has done the smallest amount of research will know that, anyone thinking they are boarding a cruise ship will be disappointed. Hurtigruten is fundamentally a coastal service providing passenger and freight services to the coastal communities of Norway. It has carved out a niche by providing customers ...

Exceeded expectations

I thought the classic round trip would give me the best opportunity to see the Northern lights. Overall the trip exceeded my expectations. The ship was very good and run in an efficient way. The staff were very hardworking, particularly the restaurant waiter service. Their language skills & friendly service were excellent. I cannot fault the choice and standard of food. Yes the excursions ...
