Beijing, to a Westener can be a big culture shock! Everytthing is built on a grand scale such as the Forbidden City, the National museum and Tiananmen Square.Again, like Shanghai, the Metro is very easy to use with it's colour coding. The only problem is actually getting there as it's 3 hours by road from where the ship docks at Tianjin. We shared a minibus with 6 other Cruise Criticers which was ...

We made our own arrangements in Beijing and decided to take the bullet train into Beijing from Binhai station in Tianjin into the giant station in Beijing. Taxi cost about $45 US to the train station and took about 35 minutes! Review for a Asia Cruise on Silver Shadow

Avoid Beijing the first week of October every year. Unfortunately Silversea did not and we had huge crowds. Very poor planning on the part of the cruise line. We toured Beijing on our own with a private tour guide, not with Silversea. Silversea did not offer an overnight into Beijing until at the last minute after we had already purchased our private tour. Very poor planning. ...
