We hired a taxi which was the most expensive of the holiday. It took 2.5 hours to get to Bangkok, sadly it rained all day which wasn't a good start. The Royal Palace and the Temples are beautiful even in the rain, the reclining Buddha is a sight to see for sure, the city is what I expected, busy, dirty and quite an adventure. It took 5 hours to get back to our ship, the taxi driver got lost and it was quite scary, stuck in the side of the motorway while he tried to get the satnav to work. Driving through towns that ypwe really didn't want to see and ending up in the middle of nowhere. If our ship had left at its scheduled time we would have been stranded in Bangkok at Laem Chabang port without a passport. Lucky for us our next days stop ha s been cancelled by Princess (Ko Samui) so we were ok. But beware! not a nice situation to be in. Read Less

We have booked a 2-days/ 1 night private tour and have doscovered the best of the citys highlights. The second day has been even better with the early visit of the risky market with the train driving through and the floating market!

That means you have spent 5 hours in traffic for Bangkok. Got very little time in the city. Luckily, ship stayed overnight at Laemchabang, we can come back to the ship at night time. Suggest take the cruise excursion "Bangkok on your own", then you can have the priority to go thru immigration. Read Less

Decided to forgo the 2.5 hour bus ride into Bangkok and took the shuttle into Pattaya. This is a nice little beach town about 40 minutes from port. Unfortunately we spent most of the time waiting out the rain in a mall (nice mall but still a mall). Once the sun came out enjoyed strolling the beach. Much of the est of the town seems set up with a ton of bars and massage parlors. Most looked OK but some seemed sketchy. Read Less

Two, very long, days, but lots to see. Sadly, Bangkok was horridly hot and humid. The tour guide was excellent.
