For those travelling from other states or countries, come a day or two head of the cruise. Baltimore has much to offer with Fort McHenry (not far from the ship), the aquarium and science centers and professional sports teams.

Spent two nights and a day in the inner harbor, easy walking around the inner harbor, friendly people, good service, enjoyed the aquarium. Keep in mind that staying in a hotel in or withing a couple of minutes waling distance has expensive parking. My wife and I stayed in teh Days Inn, $30 a night for parking. I did find out from Grandeur of the seas crew members who live or lived in Baltimore that there are hotels that have stay and extended parking packages ($8 a day parking). You leave your car and they will shuttle you to the cruise port and pick you up upon your return, Do some extended searching on the Internet to find those Hotels. Read Less

Probably one of the easiest embarkation ports I have visited; easily pull up to the porters to drop off your luggage (whether you are being dropped off, or driving in yourself); swing around to the parking area, pay for parking, either cash or credit, park your vehicle in the safe parking lot (I know it's safe as I forgot to lock my vehicle for our 9 day trip, all was ok when I got back), easy short walk to the terminal and the embarkation process begins. Great cruise port to start from. It's cheap to park (compared to other ports), and easy to drive to. It takes less than 30 minutes to park, get through security, and check in.

I did go to Baltimore 3 days before my cruise. Stayed at a Comfort Inn-very nice. I went to Baltimore Museum of Art and the Maryland Science Center both were very enjoyable.

Baltimore is the embarkation point and the experience, other than the security screen that picks up minimal metal (should only care about large metal, set too sensitive) is fast and efficient. This level of "security" needlessly delays the process and does not add to security, and, yes, I know something about security. This is more image than substance. They take away a 1 inch pen knife and give a steak knife at dinner. Read Less
