Going down hill

Review for a Asia Cruise on Celebrity Millennium

We’ve cruised on this ship before from HK to Singapore a few years ago and had an excellent holiday. We can’t believe how poor the bar service was on this trip. Same in the dining room lack of bodies. I was left a feedback form from the Hotel Director Vlado, in fact completed two but no response so herein lies the problem. One day I counted 9 people awaiting service by the pool bar with one ...

Viking does not do Asia well

Review for a Asia Cruise on Viking Mars

I had a fantastic time on Viking to Iceland. Based on that trip I convinced my husband to come along on a trip from Bali to Bangkok. First, the Viking brand does not translate well to Asia. Second, the itinerary is, how can I say it nicely…bad. Far too much time spent in ports not good for cruises, far too little in interesting ports. Singapore for 8 hours is beyond too little time ...

A Taste of Southeast Asia

Review for a Asia Cruise on Viking Orion

I love traveling. This particular Viking Ocean Cruise was my first. When I travel, top priority is food, then comfort, then quality of excursions, amenities and lastly all that was promised to me was fulfilled. I chose Viking because it had the best reputation for food quality and because there would be no kids on the ship. No loud screaming babies as I chose this to get a break from whiny ...

Review for a Asia Cruise on Seven Seas Explorer

Let's start with the things that the Regent Seven Seas Explorer gets right: 1. The ship was phenomenal! From its size, number of passengers, decor, variety of restaurants, spa, room service, two pools, free laundry service, bathroom (specifically the huge shower and soaking tub, 2 vanities) and our spacious balcony - these things were all wonderful. 2. Staff...the sheer number and the ...

We were expecting the best ever cruise and our personal experience is as follows: The good things: - The ship is beautiful, fairly new and nicely appointed. - The dining and room staff are great and will do anything for you. - The itinerary of our 17 day cruise from Bali to Hong Kong was well thought out and perfect for us. - The whole ship is clean and tidy. - The rooms are well ...

Too cold and too noisy

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Viking Orion

We loved our Viking river cruises. On this ship, the corridors were kept so cold so that, returning from outside temps of 85 to 95 degrees, we felt chilled. the food was good but people did send food back. The last two nights, the ocean was rocky and we heard a tapping all night and the crew told us it was the way the ship was constructed! The arrangements for getting us back from ...

Not A Favorite

Combining factors reduced this cruise/tour to nearly unpleasant experience. The two factors were our lack of due diligence studying the time of year for down-under travel and Vikings failure to provide their reputed excellent service with regard to air arrangements and shore excursions. Many other reviews refer to the shore excursions both free and paid-for so no real need to reiterate. We ...

Viking Ocean Cruise needs to learn from Viking River Cruises

Review for a Australia & New Zealand Cruise on Viking Orion

Have enjoyed previous Viking River Cruises so much we wanted to try the Viking Ocean Cruise and wanted to see Australia before we got too old to travel that distance. We found the Viking Ocean Ships professionalism is not up to par with the River Cruises. My wife is gluten free with some other food allergies which we had informed the Viking booking agent but the available foods for her on ship ...

Some really good good things and some really bad bad things

Review for a Asia Cruise on Seabourn Encore

I took the 10 day Gems of the Java Sea cruise on the Seabourn Encore on March 12, 2018 with a group of friends. We selected Seabourn as two of our group have cruised many times with Seabourn and raved about their service and quality. Unfortunately, I had a very uneven experience with Seabourn both on the cruise, in the pre-cruise interaction with land based staff and the Seabourn website, and in ...

We wanted to see Bali and the Komoto Dragons. The Encore is only 6 months old,a real pretty ship, staterooms are quite large, double sinks in bathroom, big screen tv,good size balconies. If you are new to Seabourn, the Seabourn Square is a new concept on deck 7, this where the reception and shore excursions are booked, they don't tell you this, you have to figure it out yourself. The gourmet coffee and ...
