Although I'm a veteran cruiser (more than 19 cruises at this point), this was my first experience on a Star Clippers ship. Sailing on this type of a ship offers a unique cruise experience, and in my opinion has the following pros and cons:
PROS:
• The Star Flyer has a passenger capacity of 170 max, but we had 155 on our sailing with all rooms occupied but one. This low passenger count ...
We love cruising. Based on our previous cruises the bar has been set high, last year with Princess.
Could Virgin’s new, quirky style run rings around the establishment?
~ Pre-cruise experience merits a mention. Virgin Voyages App. The hapless App had to be used to book a variety of things eg dining, entertainment. So bad, we had messages to us that were untrue, some folk were told the cruise ...
This is the second cruise we’ve been on with NCL. (The first was on the Pearl.) We’ve been wanting to go to Greece for a while now. Our travel agent told us a cruise would be the best way to see a variety of the islands. First of all their website is slow and horrible. When you purchase anything it takes a while to show up on your account. Don’t bother uploading your photo. We tried several times ...
Being a single, gay traveler over 45 I put a high value on an adults only cruise and the destinations were great (croatia to greece). However, having been on multiple cruises including Celebrity, Royal Caribbean (all Atlantis charters) and also being an owner of an upper scale restaurant in Chicago and global traveler I believe my view is not bias and will be honest. My goal with this cruise was ...
We chose this cruise because we had been on a shorter VV cruise last year and liked the look of the ports of call.
I would say though 2 weeks was too long and the ship became very small.
The pool area too small and not enough sunbeds on sea days. The gazebos took up a whole side of the ship and unused so a waste of space. Also the weird fixed quirky things like a see saw and nets, a waste ...
While we have cruised on Princess 20 times (75 total on over a dozen cruise lines), this was our first experience on the new Royal class ships. There were several positives but unfortunately there were more disappointments.
On the plus side, the large size allowed for a greater capacity in the Princess Theater plus the Princess Live and Vista Lounge venues and other lounges for cabaret style ...
We chose this cruise for the itinerary and the cruise line reputation, as this was our first cruise on Holland America.
The servers were friendly and accommodating, often going out of their way to please cruise passengers.
But we can’t help compare the Oosterdam to several previous cruises on Celebrity, which continues to be our favorite.
We enjoy the universally prepared Mai Tai ...
A group of 10 of us all the way from Alabama spent a year planning this trip for my husbands 40th birthday. While there were a lot of highs there were a lot of lows caused by Virgin Voyages.
The high points:
- Persephone show, 80s party, we fancy, Scarlet Night, some staff on board, Pink Agave 100%, Mykonos, Rhodes, Bodrum, Opa Hour.
The low points:
-terrible app on board
-ship ...
Our 3rd and final Oceania cruise. Frankly we fail to understand the number of repeat guests. I guess my main quibble is the quality - variable quality - of the food. It's like we are all extras in a restaurant promotion video who have been programmed/coached to play fine-dining guests - whatever the food is like. 'The finest cuisine at sea' is one of Oceania's mottoes. It just ain't. Raw poached ...
We are repeat Sixthman cruisers and on this cruise the music did not disappoint, but Norwegian cruise line certainly did! The buffet food would be horrible in a public school cafeteria let alone a cruise ship. It was only a 5 day cruise but there were so many repeated menu items! The specialty dinners were just OK. In the Brazilian restaurant, we were served spoiled filet minon...it smelled ...
