this was for the Christmas Market, and the ship couldn't get any closer. the downside was the early departure for Amsterdam, meaning that we missed out on the best of the market and it's atmosphere.

A great port and we were moored in the centre of the city. Plenty to do and great to have an overnight so we could spend time ashore in the evening and not rush back to the ship.

It was a lovely introduction, but I would have preferred a greater focus on the EU and NATO quarters, and less on the obligatory waffle.

Having been to Antwerp before, we walked around city center and settled into a Pub Crawl in several places with our son and his wife. Everyone we ran into was pleasant, helpful and happy to have us.

Quite small and compact, so easy to walk around. There was an art festival taking place, which made our visit more interesting.

Antwerp was a big surprise. Wonderful town. I took a hop on-hop off tour on my own and loved this town. It's full of diamond and jewelry stores and is a bustling city with great buildings.

A typical Belgium town with a mixture of old and quaint town houses and shopping areas, we enjoyed our five hour stay there.

We were in Antwerp on a Sunday, and so many of the stores were not open. Also, we were only able to tour the cathedral at 2PM. We had our walking tour in the morning and it was very interesting. Antwerp has some very interesting architecture and the town square is just amazing with the old, immense buildings. It was very cold during our walking tour and so we found a cafe to have some hot chocolate and a Belgian waffle. Yum! There was one area of town that had some shops open, so after a bit of browsing, we returned to the ship for lunch and then to Antwerp for the tour of the cathedral. This cathedral is important as it houses two Rembrandt paintings, among other beautiful works. On our walking tour, my husband had heard the guide say there was a tunnel that ran under the river to the other side, so he wanted to take this tunnel over to take some photos from across the river. I was a bit nervous about doing this, but it turned out it was a commuter tunnel. There was a big elevator for bicycles and strollers to get down to the tunnel(there was also an escalator),and then it was about a 10 min. walk along the tunnel to the other side. It was interesting getting some photos of Antwerp from that perspective. Read Less

A pleasant wander round the shops and a visit to Antwerp's impressive Centraal Station made for an enjoyable morning before returning to the ship for lunch and to relax on board
