Review for a Alaska Cruise on Noordam

We arrived from the fabulous train, McKinley Explorer, around 6pm. There was a huge line, again, to get to the room. The Westmark hotel felt dirty, old and way past its prime, a 2 star at best. I would have thought Holland would do better than this especially since we were in a suite. If you are assigned this hotel I would recommend you try and change it. ...

Lots to do in Anchorage - described (aptly) by a local as a "very ugly city surrounded by the most awesome beauty in nature." Highlights include Kincaid Park, botanical gardens, driving to Girdwood, stopping often to hike, and best of all Alpine Air in Girdwood. Helicopter to glacier and dogsled - truly excellent adventure. ...

We took the 1 hour trolley tour and it was great. Very informative if you don't have a lot of time in port to look around. The town was pretty quiet as there were no ships in, but I've been told once the cruising season really kicks in the town is very much alive. We stayed at the Clarion Suites for one night and found this was in a great location and easy walking distance to the main street ...

After the Denali land tour portion ended I spent my final day in Anchorage. I thoroughly enjoyed the Alaska Native Heritage Center (accessible via a free shuttle at the tourist office and various city hotels). I learned so much about the indigenous culture of Alaska and enjoyed meeting some of the native population there. I especially enjoyed my tour of the various edifices where the Indians ...
