We travelled for two hours by car and then 30 mins by boat to a sand bar in the middle of the ocean. The snorkelling was fabulous. A kid took me through the coral and then wanted a tip, which was fine with me.

Carnival did a beautiful job constructing this port with nice shops and a very nice resort style pool and restaurant. Would love to go back.

We only stayed around the pool, umbrellas for shade were at a charge.

Did the Mountain Views and City Sights. Highly recommend it. The gardens on the mountain were lovely. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to walk.

Pool was very crowded as 2 ships were in port. The shopping area had the usual assortment of stores.

Beautiful Port, albeit a little commercial. No hassles though, lots of swimming pools immediately available, while beach time will require an excursion.

We took the cheapest "Easy Puerto Plaza" bus tour for $29.95 each. We stopped at the central plaza 'Independence Square' in the center of town. We took a peek inside the famous 'Catedral del Aburrimiento' and it was not much to look at. Our tour guide immediately herded everyone to a gift shop where his cousins work and kept us there for 45 boring minutes. We drove around in the heat and would not have stopped at the famous 'Fortress De Piedras Aburridas' if several of us had not shouted out "Stop! It's the Fortress! Yes, we want to get out and see it!" Other tour highlights: We saw a man and his wife and two small children all riding on a single motorcycle, and we saw the local fire station. We drove by the popular 'Chanel Cafe' in the center of town, but we did not eat there. Read Less

Hated every minute. DO NOT go beyond the village if seeking private tours. There is nowhere to tour - just ripoffs from the locals. I wasted $90.00 and was angry with myself and more Carnival for even developing a port at such a raunchy place. The artificial village is the limit that anyone should go for an adventure. Much better locations in the Carribean to spend your money and time. Read Less

My favorite port on this cruise! The ship docks at Amber Cove, which is a “village” created for the cruise line. It is lovely and well-maintained, with lots of shopping. We took the Ocean World Day Pass excursion, and it was wonderful ! The staff there was friendly and very helpful to my husband, who has mobility issues. We didn't realize that the park is built on the side of a hill, so the walking was difficult for him. They not only loaned him a wheelchair for free, the staff pushed it for him. The park itself has great animal shows (approved by the Humane Society and World Wildlife Fund). Don't miss the dolphin show ! The seal show is excellent also, as is the parrot show. The only mild disappointment was the Shark Encounter, which is not really a show at all; you simply watch other tourists pet the sharks. We ate at their restaurant, from the menu, and the food was good and reasonably priced. The gift shop is nice as well. One thing to be aware of is that you cannot wear eyeglasses if you do the Dolphin Encounter (for the safety of the dolphins). So if you have poor eyesight and no contact lenses, you may see “fuzzy” dolphins ! Read Less

We love Amber Cove, definitely do an excursion through. Be aware the country is very poor so just be smart don't leave your things unsupervised. But the people are very sweet and kind.
