167 Amber Cove (Puerto Plata) Cruise Reviews

This is Carnival's new private island. Beautiful pool area with lounge chairs, zip line which we did not try, shopping. We chose to walk around a bit and head back to the ship.

It's new, so not much happening yet. They have a very nice pool area though.

We did an excursion to the local town a plantation that provided lunch. It was just ok. I heard the waterfalls excursion was fantastic so next time I think we will go that route.

Clean pool. Used the lockers. Went on an excursion to ocean world. The bus was clean and safe to get there. The shows are o.k. The kids liked it there. Ate a pizza and drank some beers and sodas there. Prices are fair.

I don't know what the cost was. Two members of our family took an excursion which included a tour of a rum factory, a church, and Puerto Plata, and included lunch for $45 USD per person. They said it was really interesting and the tour guide was really funny. They said it was a real culture shock to see how most lived there. Read Less

Did the Ocean World day pass. I really didn't enjoy this. The tanks for the animals are small so I ended up feeling sorry for the sea lions, dolphins and sharks. The shows were nice and the kids enjoyed it, but it wasn't for me. I would have rather visited a beach or stayed at the port doing the zip line and water slides. Beautiful island though. Still a lot of road work around the port because it just opened in October 2015, but I would love to return to the Dominican Republic to see more. Read Less
