821 Amber Cove (Puerto Plata) Cruise Reviews

Very beautiful lots of shopping but only a pool area, no beach which was disappointing. If you wanted to go to the beach you had to pay $50 per person for cab to take you there for two hours

The pool, water slide and Sky Bar were great. We exited the ship quickly and were able to find a few chairs next to the pool. We rented a couple umbrellas and 5 El Presidente beers were only $20. What a price!

Big and clean pool. Wish we can see the beautiful beaches there be but the cruise ship leaves at 2:30 so no time to check other areas.

Seemed nice but with the recent deaths we decided to just stay in the Carnival controlled area and didn't eat or drink on the island. Would have been nice to go to another port while the issue was getting resolved.

Paid for a 20 ish waterfall, slides. After a 40 minute bus ride which was fine we got to location. I had pulled up the excursion and read about attire. No where did it say we had to have closed toe shoes so we wore our chacos. We get there and have to rent shoes for $8 a piece. Really need to be in good shape. This is a tough climb for someone that does not exercise. However our tour guides were awesome. Read Less

Every pic the guy took was on there, so all other people in grp were included. Literally on 4 pics of each group in our group. All posed, no pics of the jumps or slides. Our first port was Amber Cove, DR. The 25 acre port complex developed by Carnival is secure and quite comfortable. We did not plan an outside excursion, opting to stay in the Amber Cove Aqua Zone, with swim-up bar and lazy river. Being one of the first to disembark, we found loungers in the shade of a palm tree. Umbrellas were available to rent for $20, but if you are early, you can find shaded seating. There is the usual port shopping, but the nice thing is there are no ‘locals’ trying to get you to but their T-shirts or take a tour to see their cousin’s chicken farm. Read Less

AMAZING beaches and great tour guide, Logan. We had a blast just hanging on the beach. I do think maybe should reconsider the DR just due to recent deaths of american travelers but we never felt unsafe. We took a open tour truck that was a 45 min drive to the beach. Getting to sight see and see how the DR folks live was amazing! I really enjoyed this. Read Less

Took the Outback Adventure and had a blast. Seeing how the people in the villages live is an eye opener. I took some dog bones to give to stray dogs and all but one didn't know what to do with the bones. So sad. The children were so cute and if you buy the outback shirts part of the money goes to the school to help the children with uniforms. I would highly recommend this tour. Read Less

Would probably do an excursion next time but plenty of things at the port to keep you entertained. Enjoyed the sky bar very much!
