From the boat, this place looks like an industrial port, but it really is worth seeing. Read Less

Free shuttle bus off the pier! Santa Barbara Castle--take the elevator-beautiful views from the top, interestings areas to walk through, small snack shop. Lovely Basilica and other churches--attended mass there. Stop and enjoy tapas and drinks at D'Tablas-it probably will be crowded, but a different kind of experience. There is a beach by the port. I went swimming and it is very neat to be floating on your back in the Mediterranian Sea and looking up at the imposing Santa Barbara Castle. Read Less

The port provides a free shuttle. Explanada de España is a beautiful walkway. We were there in the morning and able to enjoy it with only a few people around. Mercado Central was a bustling neighborhood market filled with locals. We enjoyed eating lunch at one of the stalls while people watching. Castell de Santa Bàrbara was a long hike, and we only had time to make it about halfway there. Being just that far up was a nice break from the city. Read Less

We booked the tour with the ship as it was a short day and we wanted to be sure we wouldn't miss the ship as the drive was listed as 90 minutes. The main point here is that the ship's description of the difficulty of visiting "The Amazing Guadalest" almost kept us from signing up. The descriptions mentions lots of walking over cobblestone and walking up 100 steps to the tower, going through a tunnel... True, HOWEVER, it was not at all difficult. You can walk slowly over the cobblestone and the if you don't want to go up the 100 steps to the top of the Castell de Guadalest, you can stay in a cute little village center and wait for your group. There are of course, places for coffee and tourist shops. You can stop and rest while walking up or decide to turn around and go back. Don't let the warning scare you away from this amazing site with spectacular views. Read Less
