When we tried to book a tour they were already full. This is due to Viking having an opening date for bookings depending on your cabin type. Didn't learn much except step foot on Algerian land. Haven't been in such a controlled situation since visiting East Germany in 1983 with USA sports team. Would have been nice to have lunch and shop there but perhaps politics prohibited that at this time. ...

Algiers is not ready for tourists. Having a police escort is uncomfortable and the monument was OK. Guide made the most of telling about the progress of Algiers but it's still a third world country and I wouldn't go back if you paid me. ...
