A really picturesque port, easy to get from ship into the town, no need to take a ships excursion as there is plenty to do on your own etc. well worth exploring

A very quiet place but plenty to do in wandering around. The steps to the mountain top were closed for repair - just as well! All in all an enjoyable time here

Ship docks very close to the city centre and easy to get about. If you are visiting in early May check if where you want to go is open as the season starts mid May.

Used the HoHo bus from the cruise terminal. Excellent commentary (multi-lingual with earphones) and good drivers. gave helpful intro to the history of Alesund. Great views from the top! Then walked around the town.

Alesund is a beautiful city. We had planned to walk up the steps to the viewpoint. They were closed so we had to go the long way around, but this worked out for the best as it meant getting different, but equally good, views along the way. In the afternoon we hired kayaks at the dockside and paddled around the island, including getting up close to the side of the Eclipse! Read Less

Alesund has lots to offer, with good bus serivces (careful of bank holidays though) you can get to most places of interest. We didn't see the point in booking and paying for shore tours as we managed to get around just fine without them. On a wet day the Aquarium is very good. A trip up mount Askla is a must, just for the superb view. The steps were closed while we were there - due to re-open after refurbishment the day after our visit!. We took a bus up to the top and walked back down through the park. The town itself is nice to wander around too but being a bank holiday while we were there most shops were closed Read Less

Alesund is beautiful, however, was a public holiday when we docked, therefore, it was empty. We did however, use the 'hop on hop off' facility which was perfect for us and gave us the opportunity to see the sights and views from the cliff tops. Loved the heated seating next to the river side, spectacular views. Read Less

We really liked the trip out, it was very different to what we had done before. The Giske Church was so good we would have loved to have stayed longer, the story teller was excellent and the church was really interesting. Then all turned pear-shaped, the rain really settled in!! We would have loved to have the visit to the lighthouse on a dry and fine day and again to have had more time to take in all that was available. Read Less

This was an interesting town and easy to walk around. We enjoyed looking round the town and the parks and taking some photographs. There were lots of old buildings too
