didn't leave the ship at Alesund, weather was awful! ...

We rented a taxi in this port...not easy to do...no taxis at the port or in the street. Finally went into a hotel and they called on for us. Not much in the city. The most interesting part for us was a church surrounded by hills of a grave yard, meticulously maintained. Beautiful town. We decided to walk up the steps to the top which overlooks the town and the view was incredible. There was a cafe at the top but you had to pay to get in so we didn’t bother. After we went down we went to see “the house that didn’t burn” We assumed we would just take a photo and then leave but it’s actually been turned into a museum which is free. The port was simply a waiting room with a few chairs and a vending machine and toilets adjacent. No staff on hand for any questions or to direct us where to go when the ship arrives. ...
