Definitely can see why it is called the Paris of Norway. Lovely little city. The weather was not great so decided to walk around. Hiked up to Aksla for the view. Great way to spend the day. ...

A stunning Art Nouveau town to explore. Nice walk with lots of steps up Aksla viewing point. Interesting museum and art gallery in town explaining the history of the town which was virtually destroyed by fire in 1904. ...

We had a great day in Alesund. Such an enjoyable city and so easy to walk around on your own. We started off by taking the 80 minute city sightseeing train. It leaves right from the port and gives a great overview of the city with a 15 minute stop at the top of mount Aksla for an amazing view of the city. ...

We quite enjoyed our day in Alesund (nice and sunny). We didn't book anything, it's not necessary here. You can easily walk into town and admire the art deco architecture as well as the canal and marina setting. We also climbed the 400+ steps up to the observatory at Mt Aksla. It's not too hard to find, just follow the crowds, walk up the hill into a park and find the stairwell. Awesome views all ...

We had time left before our boat cruise around Hjorundfjord. The excursion started at 1:15 p.m. and went ashore at 10:10 a.m. We decided to see the city by driving a road train. It was not possible to buy tickets for 10:30, I had to buy for 11:00 for the “little train”, the cost for two is 540 NOK if you pay by card. It's about $55. The train goes throughout the city with a stop at Mount Aksla, ...
