We only made a walk through the city near the port to look a the art nouveau buildings. It was early in the morning, a very good time for such city walks.

Nice tour through Alesund, the tourguide was Dutch but she did it in English very good. We have seen a lot.

We rented a taxi in this port...not easy to do...no taxis at the port or in the street. Finally went into a hotel and they called on for us. Not much in the city. The most interesting part for us was a church surrounded by hills of a ... Read More
We rented a taxi in this port...not easy to do...no taxis at the port or in the street. Finally went into a hotel and they called on for us. Not much in the city. The most interesting part for us was a church surrounded by hills of a grave yard, meticulously maintained. Also enjoyed some views of the water area and information about the islands around the port city, but it was overcast...as we were told it usually is. Ended going to a huge Farmers market and ate ice cream! Read Less

Beautiful town. We decided to walk up the steps to the top which overlooks the town and the view was incredible. There was a cafe at the top but you had to pay to get in so we didn’t bother. After we went down we went to see “the house that didn’t burn” We assumed we would just take a photo and then leave but it’s actually been turned into a museum which is free. We had a free tour round and listened to the interesting stories. There is a lovely cafe inside so we stayed for a coffee and cake. We had dry weather this day so we had a walk around the harbour area Read Less

The port was simply a waiting room with a few chairs and a vending machine and toilets adjacent. No staff on hand for any questions or to direct us where to go when the ship arrives.
