Definitely can see why it is called the Paris of Norway. Lovely little city. The weather was not great so decided to walk around. Hiked up to Aksla for the view. Great way to spend the day. ...

It leaves right from the port and gives a great overview of the city with a 15 minute stop at the top of mount Aksla for an amazing view of the city. ...

We quite enjoyed our day in Alesund (nice and sunny). We didn't book anything, it's not necessary here. You can easily walk into town and admire the art deco architecture as well as the canal and marina setting. We also climbed the 400+ steps up to the observatory at Mt Aksla. It's not too hard to find, just follow the crowds, walk up the hill into a park and find the stairwell. Awesome views all ...
