Because the port of Isafjordur was missed, the ship arrived in Akureyri at 4 PM the day before it was originally scheduled. This allowed us to book a non-ship excursion for midnight whale watching. Highly recommend this port. Take a day tour, there is soooo much to see and do. The Tectonic plates were fascinating, make sure to go into the cave to see the blue waters. Note, glasses will fog up. There are Myvatn hot baths you can visit, keep in mind they will not be blue like the Blue Lagoon.
