Positives:
The included food was mostly good. The buffet had limited options but the menu changed daily and the food was always piping hot. The MDR food was good except for the deserts which I found very bland.
The entertainment was very good particularly the Aurora orchestra and cast. The guest entertainers were above average too and we saw a different show every night of the cruise which ...
Chose this wonderful Norwegian Fjords cruise to enjoy with my mum and husband. Turned into a disastrous experience with husband suffering from food poisoning and being cabin bound for 5 days of his holiday. The response on board from restaurant manager was diabolical, no accountability being taken for making a passenger ill and denied this could even be possible. The cabin staff worked very hard ...
Sounded like an interesting itinerary. However, every port was pretty much like the last. Due to a booking glitch, we were unable to pre-booked most of the excursions, which were listed as "sold out" when we tried to book on-board. That was actually a good thing....as we were able to do all of the excursions when we arrived at the ports for a considerable difference in price. I have always ...
PO Cruise on Iona - Norwegian fjords, August 2023
This was our first post-covid cruise. My wife and I have cruised several times before and on this occasion we booked a balcony cabin for ourselves and one for our 19yo niece as a treat. We had watched several reviews of Iona on youtube and learnt a few useful tips, such as don't take a balcony cabin on the dreaded deck 8 (or 9 for that matter). ...
Just back from a Med cruise on Azura and it was wonderful. The crew cannot do enough for you. The captain is friendly and present around the ship a lot, which was lovely. Food and service in the main dining room was faultless and breakfast and dinner. The buffet was great for lunch, lots of salads as well as heavier options. Veggie dishes are good and easy to find. Plenty of sun loungers ...
P & O Aurora awful
This is very hard to write, considering our last cruise to Norway on Iona I gave 5 Stars as it was an amazing experience. We both had such high hopes and were so happy to be returning to P&O. However reality did not match expectations.
Our trip to Germany and Belgium started going bad on the first night, when we discovered we were sleeping next door to a Rhino. Her ...
We chose based on dates, itinerary, price and P&O reputation. Our balcony cabin was roomy, comfortable and mostly well kept. It's a tired older ship, cabin carpet had some stains, the fridge barely worked and the cold water wasn't cold. The ship was crowded, it being August, and felt it at times. Reception weren't great. The main restaurant food was often good, never great, but sometimes iffy. The ...
I chose this cruise due to the lack of single supplement, the fact there were no children aboard, and the interesting itinary. I'd not especially enjoyed some recent cruises, but this adventure restored my faith. It's my third P and O cruise this year, and by far the best.
The atmosphere in board was brilliant, with most people seemingly keen to enjoy themselves. This was aided by the staff who ...
Although we are not new to cruising there were quite a few firsts for us on this cruise. It was our first time on a ship as big as the Arvia, the first time we had travelled from Southampton on a long cruise, the first time we had done freedom dining and the first time we dared to travel during a school holiday. It was actually a great cruise.
We were surprised at how easy the embarkation ...
First time cruise which was on the wife's bucket list. Absolutely brilliant ! Went for Balcony Cabin on Deck 12 which was very spacious and we loved sitting watching the world go by. Arvia certainly has the Wow factor, a monster if a ship but beautiful at the same time. The quality and choice of restaurants was first class and we tried them all notably The Olive Grove and Epicurean. That said ...
