  3. Nieuw Amsterdam
Because the size is great for 3 passengers, we had a deluxe suite on deck 6 on the Nieuw Amsterdam. We are now on our sixth cruise and already have our next cruise booked. The perks are well worth the fare. Each year we go a different Caribbean area, we are just a two hour drive to the port, no air fare involved. Service is wonderful, food is beyond great, and the activities keep us busy when we were not ashore. We had a cabana on Half Moon Cay and added a butler. What fun to be pampered all day long. Our butler was getting us pina colads two at a time and we had a special lunch of barbecued prawns, fruit, and rice. Chips and dips and soda and water and fruit were all included. Cayman was a good stop, Mahogany Bay and Costa Maya OK if you like water sports but not much else to do there. If anything could be improved it would be the nightly shows. Not up to some of the larger cruise ships. We even skipped a few of them. We enjoyed dinner at the Pinnacle Room twice, and at Tamarind once for lunch, again worth the extra charge. Holland America is booked by more age 50+ cruisers and the dinner table was always friendly, we met new people each night because we selected "as you wish" dining. Can't wait till our next HAL cruise.
