"Not your father's cruise line" Well folks suffice it to say....the image of an old man's cruise line is in our opinion way off base. This was our second HAL cruise...Zuiderdam Aug. 04 and this one. In both cases it was mix of young and not so young! (baby boomers) and their families. Can't say it was all old folks as many say about HAL....perhaps it's true on other HAL ships and maybe at other times of the year but we've had nothing but FANTASTIC experiences on their Vista Class ships with young and seniors alike! Makes for a much more interesting crowd when there is a mix of ages.
While nothing is perfect...our cruise this past week on the Westerdam was nearly perfect in every way. Food was outstanding!!!!!! My wife and I are fond of fine dining and upscale restaurants and we were not disappointed with either of our cruises on HAL. Service was also topnotch with attentive waiters and friendly dining room staff. Our only complaint is that the long tables so often seen on HAL ships (rather than rounds) tend to be cramped and pushed too close to one another. However we dealt with that minor inconvenience as the quality and variety of food was super! I mean all in all that's a minor issue considering the value of what we received on this cruise!
Our S cabin was a joy...nice clean stateroom with sophistication and comfortable ambiance. As veteran Celebrity cruises...HAL exceeds in this category hands-down!! Embarkation and disembarkation was professionally handled down to every detail...Not to mention how super the entertainment was on this ship. Our 21 year old daughter and best friend were on the week before us for a back to back and they both commented on how great the shows were! We had to agree especially the lead singer from Yanni's tour...(Alfreda Gerald) what a magnificent voice! Truly a memorable part of the week onboard!
