Sail Date: Mar 2012

We sailed on the 10-night cruise departing 2/26/12. This was our 5th cruise, a special trip in celebration of our upcoming 30th anniversary that we had planned for more than a year and a half. Other than our purchased "anniversary package" details, there was nothing on this trip that stands out as a time when we felt special the way that we did on our two previous Princess cruises.

Our cabin steward was great. One of the ship photographers was great and very friendly. A few of the coffee bar staff were very nice. But mostly, the staff just seemed very stressed, unhappy, and tired. We feel that Princess has probably cut staff drastically to increase profits and I guess it is just too much to expect people who are that overworked to be warm and gracious all the time.

The food in main dining room was fine, but we only ate there 3 times because, to be honest, they always put us in a not-great table location and pretty much ignored us from then on. We felt like 2nd class citizens quite often on this trip. We feel that Princess is leaning more and more towards catering to older and very wealthy people who do nothing but cruise, and that is not us. We had planned to do another future-cruise deposit on this voyage, but changed our minds.

Cabin Review

Cabin AE

E724 was okay. Noisy due to engine sounds in aft location. Balcony door was hard to open a time or two but cabin steward got it fixed promptly both times. Otherwise, good closet space and wonderful full sized bathtub in mini-suite.
