This was our 7th cruise with NCL and we have always been happy with the ships and destinations...although I wish they had something in the orient. Of all of our trips with NCL, this was the most disappointing. First, it was not horrible and we didn't leave wanting a refund or straight to another cruise line. But the Star just didn't meet our expectations and was not consistent with past cruises with NCL. They did all the big things right, but customer service and attention to detail were lacking. Embarkation went fine, although the pier staff are a bunch of clowns (not NCL staff), but those employed in Tampa. Bad attitudes and lack of consideration. Just watch them from a balcony and see how they treat your vehicle in valet parking. Room was OK, but was not cleaned well. From eye level, it looked fine, but anything above or under something hadn't been touched in a very long time. bathroom needed minor repairs and shower door was broken. Ship staff, including senior staff (seemingly even more than regular staff) were generally disconnected and just seemed to be looking towards the cruise end on day one. However, there were some stars in the dining rooms and we ensured we filled out comment cards and gave them individual tips. Major stuff generally captured, but they were way off on the details. Ship needed maintenance (broken door handles, ripped/worn carpets, wall damage, stateroom had broken shower door, soap dispenser, toilet seat cracked....that stuff. Ports were generally great, but those in Mexico have gotten out of control with shore side gifts, especially Costa Maya. Excursions went great, but Costa Maya is a rip off as they have you at the pier. Entertainment; Blah. Took an NCL cruise 18 months prior and had many of the same shows (different cast). 18 months later, same shows...come on. Debarkation was a mess...again, the folks in Tampa have no concept of customer service or efficiency. Coupled with delays and their poor management, frustrated people just overwhelmed them early on and it turned into a soup sandwich. Will I go again with NCL, probably. The Star; NO.

Cabin ID
Small and needed minor maintenance. Obvious places cleaned, but top shelves, under bed were not for a long time. We actually like inside cabins for the quiet and no early morning sun. Star just not getting the details right.
