Brilliance of the Seas Cruise Review by winifred robertson
- Sail Date: February 2012
- Destination: Middle East
- Cabin Type: Interior Stateroom
the ship was the usual standard we have experienced before on a royal caribbean ship, although we have previously been on mariner of the seas when it was newly commissioned so obviously it didnt have the luxurious royal promenade, etc. and is looking a little tired but very clean and comfortable with good sized rooms and excellent maid service.
the food and service was of a very good standard and chops grille superb. anyone who complains of rubbish food must eat in very high standard restaurants in their normal lives as there was something for everyone, nationalities, etc and always plentiful and fresh.
there is no laundry room for general use and i found this annoying as i usually carry a small travel iron but due to other ships i have been on having this facility on this occasion did not feel the need to take one. i had already ironed my clothes before leaving home but had four items which needed to be run over before wearing. this cost me eleven dollars which is excessive and there should be a facility.
my main issue with this cruise is the extortionate price of drinks on board. not only were they vastly overcharged they all had a gratuity on top which made a pint of lager and a small mango martini 18 dollars every time. our overall bill was in the region of £600 for drinks alone and this did not include any wine as we had a 100 dollar voucher which paid for the only two bottles we had plus two drinks. we only had on average three drinks each per night so be warned, this is a major rip off!!
i do not think i will travel on royal caribbean again due to this as everything was with additional charge and gratuties and having sailed on other big ships dont feel the need to to go back to a company who does this to customers.
