We had a suite (cabin 1617) and loved it. Our butler, Edwin and his able assistants Rafael and Eduardo anticipated and responded to our every need. We hosted two pre-dinner cocktail parties and simply gave Edwin the expected number of attendees. Ten minutes before each party Edwin would arrive with platters of cheeses, fruits, vegetables and shrimp. Eduardo would arrive an hour or so earlier and put the wines that required chilling and ice. Everything from cork screws to proper glasses for red or white wine were always on hand. This service was as good as it gets! Very professional and very organized.
We dined most nights in the MDR. Our table was #241, right next to the Captain's table. There were eight of us in our party and our waiter, Samuel and his assistant, Adil were outstanding. Asking permission to call us by our first names was a nice touch and added to our dining experience. The sommelier, Adrian certainly knew his wines and his suggestions complemented our entree selections. The maitre d', Vladimir carefully oversaw the entire dining process. Our food was always timely delivered and served at the correct temperatures. We enjoyed all the meals. No one at our table thought they were served a less than good to excellent meal. Food commenting is so personally subjective that I can only comment on how we generally felt about it. I can state unequivocally though that we would definitely sail again on the Eclipse because we liked the food. One further comment about the dining experience. The ship has a brunch a little past mid-week. It is not to be missed! I remember when this kind of presentation used to be called the "midnight buffet". It's much better to do this between 10:00am and 1:00pm.
The shows were good to excellent. The performers in the atrium and poolside had some amazing vocalists. The acappella group is not to be missed. We would get lounges in the shaded areas by 9:00am each day. We never had a problem finding eight lounge chairs together. Sea days would find us reading our books or playing cards and relaxing. We do not use pools or hot tubs as a matter of personal choice.
