I cannot believe that any bad reviews have even been written. This is an amazing cruise and the Norwegian Star is an amazing ship. I have been on bigger, flashier ships with double the guests, but this was a bit smaller but still with plenty of glamour and flash. In fact, I found this ship to be the perfect balance of awesome and quaint at the same time. The staff could not have been more pleasant. One reviewer said the staff were unfriendly; I honestly found everyone to be friendly and helpful.

It was 30 degrees in Tampa for embarkation, and it was a breeze as we waited inside a comfortable and warm room for the process to take place. Our stateroom was spotless. Again, someone had said in their review that their room was dirty. Our room was close to pristine, clean and spacious (much bigger than we had anticipated), and bigger than the average Princess room. The wood paneling detail in the room was modern and clean, but was pretty and made you feel like you were on a ship. there is a coffee maker, fridge (stocked with drinks) and a blow dryer. Don't forget your hair conditioner, as this is not provided. There is an iron you can borrow for two hours, but we didn't need it. The storage areas and closets were excellent. The bathroom was divided into three sections -- have never seen this before -- excellent idea, and spacious with glass doors dividing the three areas. We had a balcony, which was great for when you want to be away for a bit -- you have the whole ocean to yourself!

The food on the Star was the best ever, better than the Princess cruise I took a few years ago. Unfortunately, we missed Lobster night the first night. Versailles Restaurant is included and it is the prettiest restaurant I have ever seen. We didn't really eat in the extra fee restaurants, but most were busy every night, and we heard they were very good! The Market Cafe (buffet) was excellent. We had breakfast and lunch there. It is a bustling place, so don't expect a quiet meal, but it is comfortable and the food is fresh and excellent. There are always special items being prepared eg) crepes, omelets, panini, wraps, carving stations, etc and there were always vegetarian specialties like Thai curry dishes, and these are all in addition to an amazing buffet, with tons of other options. There is an ice-cream machine which serves great ice-cream. Tea, milk, water and juice are provided. We bought very little soda, but are wine lovers so drank that later in the day, at about $6 a glass or the daily drink special while on the pool deck. There wasn't a time we couldn't find a deck chair. The pool was nice and there were days when there were only a few people in it with me.

Our cabin was excellent and description included above. We found it to be very quiet, which meant a lot.
