Norwegian Jade Cruise Review by Mike Nicholson
- Sail Date: February 2012
- Destination: Canary Islands
- Cabin Type: Mid-Ship Balcony
This is our 4th time on the Jade so we are familiar with the layout and knew what to expect. The cabin we selected was an outside balcony which has everything you could want. One negative was that the T.V. was very small and difficult to see. (come on NCL, lets have bigger flat screen T.V,s)
Our steward was very friendly and helpful and kept the cabin clean and generally made our vacation pleasant.
The public areas on the ship were always clean and a special mention about the public toilets which were spotless.
We only ate in 3 restaurants, the Grand Pacific, Garden Restaurant and the Great Outdoors. these provided us with all the variety of food we needed and the quality was good. On previous cruises we have used the restaurants with a cover charge but do not think they are value for money.
The entertainment was first class. We visited the Stardust theatre and were impressed by the standard of the performances especially the Illusionist and the Gymnastic duo. We have seen these acts on a previous cruise but the routine had been changed and once again they were excellent.
Unfortunately the weather in the Canaries and during the sea days was a little on the cool side so the ship became congested indoors at times but we always had the sanctuary of our cabin and the balcony.
We did not venture on any excursions as we have visited the ports of calls before on a previous cruise,we just went ashore and did our own thing.
All in all it was a relaxing vacation and certainly value for money considering the food, entertainment and level of service provided. The freestyle cruising aspect really suits us and are looking forward to another NCL cruise on the Jade in October.
