Norwegian Dawn Cruise Review by jertom
- Sail Date: January 2012

Our last cruise was on the Gem so we compare. The Dawn was good in many respects, especially the service and friendliness of staff. Fewer food choices. Small library. Missed the Great Outdoors and preferred the Spinnaker Lounge Gem location upper deck fwd vs Dawn location lower deck aft with no big windows.
No reservations at MDRs. We either showed up when they opened or went to buffet at Garden Cafe.
We enjoyed the New Seasons band which played on pool deck and Spinnaker. DJ Keith was good. The Atrium group called Duo Luna was good.
Sea Days were very crowded. Probably a balcony would have been good on those days.
We didn't go ashore at Samana because the tender situation seemed pretty chaotic.
On all the other ports we docked and either walked to town or took a shuttle free or a few bucks.
We enjoyed seeing the towns since we had been to some of the islands by plane and mostly saw resorts and tour destinations. The museums, churches and government buildings are interesting, as well as observation of the towns' general architecture and businesses.
We usually went ashore after breakfast and returned for lunch, or went ashore after lunch. That gave us time to enjoy the pool deck area uncrowded.
Generally things were noisy and we did not go to the evening shows.
We tried to go to all the dance music scheduled, mostly in the Spinnaker between 6 PM and 9 PM, so we scheduled our meals around that.
Embarkation and disembarkation were very smooth, kudos to NCL and Port of Miami.
