Norwegian Epic Cruise Review by jcd51
- Sail Date: January 2012
- Destination: Eastern Caribbean
- Cabin Type: Balcony
There is no question that the ship is huge but the signage is clear and port and starboard elevators and carpets are colour coded so we were able to find our way around very easily. There are also maps and interactive display boards at each elevator.
The entertainment was fantastic. We took in the Blue Man group, Legends, Cirque and Howl at the Moon. We have read other comments from people saying they did not know you had to reserve for Legends and Blue Man but that info was on line in the emails and info supplied by NCL prior to the cruise. Also, the two 7 pm shows we attended had some seating available.
We ate at the Garden Cafe Buffet, Taste and Manhattan dining rooms and O'Sheehan's. Quality, choice, presentation and service were all excellent. Given the number of passengers we never had a problem finding a seat at the buffet and never had to wait at the dining rooms even though we were usually there around 6 or 6:30.
The staff and crew were very friendly and personable. They took time to find out where we were from and although we filled out 3 specific S.T.Y.L.E. cards we honestly could have filled out one for every crew member we dealt with.
The stateroom does take a little getting used to. The wavy walls are neat but overall I think straight would be more efficient. Having said that we have never had a stateroom with so much storage space. We had read comments on the shower/toilet/sink configuration and again, while we prefer the more traditional NCL arrangement, we really had no issue with it.
To finish off a wonderful cruise, disembarkation was the best we have ever encountered on any cruise. From the time our colour was called - 5 minutes early - to baggage claim, customs, parking garage and on I-95 was 45 minutes.
