This was our third Celebrity cruise, following an Alaskan cruise on the Infinity and Western Caribbean on the Solstice. I can say that despite a few "speed bumps", the cruise was exceptional and a lovely way to celebrate my birthday.

Despite noting some apprehension from other travelers, following the recent Costa tragedy, we immediately felt we were in competent hands with Captain Skylogiannis and crew . We felt that every precaution was being taken to ensure a safe voyage.

We arrived in Miami after departing from Maine and a New Jersey connection with our dear traveling buddies. We utilized the taxi for transport to the cruise port without any issues. Check-in was smooth and efficient. We immediately set off for the Oceanview Cafe and encountered our first issue. My husband and I felt the food was not quite up to par with the Solstice although "Cruising Buddies" appeared to enjoy it. Some of the items had not been refreshed quickly enough and some hot items were just above room temperature. The biggest complain throughout the cruise was the coffee.......totally undrinkable unless you filled the cup a third full with hot water first. The coffee was so strong the spoon almost stood up straight in the cup! The exception was in Blu....great coffee, but I'll get to Blu later.

Cabin Review

We occupied staterooms 1519 and 1521 on Deck 11 on the forward, port side of the ship. Wonderful visibility (no obstructions whatsoever). The stateroom, although a bit small was well appointed with more than adequate storage space. Our stateroom was configured with the bed near the bath, our friends in 1521 had the bed next to the deck. The stateroom is a short distance to the Relaxation room which was great for reading or an afternoon nap. The bathroom was spacious with a terrific shower. 1519 and 1521 are on a bump-out but have the standard size balcony. Very quiet although below the gym.
